How to complete the Time to Die mission in Vietnam.
After some time spent going rogue in Webb Industries, you’ll be sent on Mission 8 — Time to Die in 007 First Light. This assignment sees you embarking on a black op to try and get some hard evidence against Sir Nicholas Webb and his son, Damien Webb, or else both Bond and M may not be part of MI6 for much longer.

007 First Light Mission 8 walkthrough
After having fled Webb Industries, you’ll return to MI6 HQ, where a rather angry M tasks you with getting some evidence against Sir Nicholas Webb and his son, Damien Webb. This assignment will take you away from London and to a luxury resort in Vietnam.
For this mission, you’ll also be able to select your Gadget Loadout beforehand; I decided to take the Q-Watch, Missile Pen, Laser Strap, and Dart Phone with me, which I’ll reference in this walkthrough. If you’re not sure what to take with you, take a look at our list of the best Gadgets to help you make your decision.
With that out of the way, let’s get going with Mission 8. Dock your speedboat at resort, The Pearl, and talk to the concierge.
1. Go to the villa and open the package
After docking your boat and receiving a warm welcome, follow the concierge to your villa. Upon arriving, go inside and upstairs to retrieve your package from Q.
Inside, you’ll find the Q-Trak and Q-Glasses Gadgets, and you’ll need to test the latter for Moneypenny next.
2. Test the Q-Glasses
Use your Q-Lens and multiple objectives in the room will be shown (pictured below).
Go around the room and inspect a few of these so that Moneypenny can recalibrate the Q-Glasses (and get a good look at the hotel perks you currently have access to).
When prompted by Moneypenny, go back outside and approach the concierge, who’ll request that you follow her to reception.
3. Scan the guest ledger
At reception, speak to the receptionist and you’ll sign the guest ledger.
Moneypenny will scan the guest names as you do, then request that you plant Q-Traks in some of the guests at the resort that fit Caliban’s M.O. These are Theresa Lorca, Ramon Hernandez, and Ellis White.
First, we’re going to go and find Ellis White.
4. Plant a Q-Trak on Ellis White
If you go down the staircase that the mystery woman from the previous cutscene went down, you should overhear two staff members talking about how Mr. White is at the Velvet Lantern Bar.
When the two men are done talking, follow the one with longer hair (shown below) to be taken straight to Ellis White’s alleged location. You can also follow the signposts from here if you don’t fancy walking behind the man.
As you head to the Lantern Bar, Moneypenny will remind you to not use the Dart Phone or Laser Strap on any of the guests you’re planting Q-Traks in, as this interrupts their functionality. Bear that in mind!
When you arrive at the Velvet Lantern Bar, eavesdrop on the couple drinking by the bar. They’ll talk about how Mr. White is now at the Ocean View Bar, which Moneypenny will fortunately mark on your Q-Lens for you.
When you’re ready, head to the Ocean View Bar next. As you approach, one of Mr. White’s men will refuse to allow you entry without an invite. Two women will emerge from the bar following this conversation, and if you use your Q-Lens on them, you’ll see that both of them are carrying invites.
After a brief conversation, one of the women will go to sit down while another speaks to a member of staff. Use the Dart Phone on the woman who is sitting to distract her then pickpocket the invite from her.
With the invite in hand, return to Mr. White’s men and enter the Ocean View Bar. Though as you approach Mr. White in the bar, you’ll be stopped again; he’ll quickly task you with helping to retrieve the keys for his minibar so he can have a drink. It’s this drink that we’ll be able to slip the Q-Trak into unnoticed.
Follow Mr. White’s friend – Jonty – to the Velvet Lantern Bar storage room, where minibar keys are kept.
At the Velvet Lantern Bar, you’ll need to distract the barman so that you can sneak into the storage room behind him. Do this by talking to the barkeep and asking to order ‘off menu’. When he says they don’t have the wine you requested, respond with ‘Help me out here’.
The barkeep will walk off to deal with your request, allowing you to sneak behind the bar and into the storage room.
In the storage room, there are two staff members on the left. Sneak past them and turn on the hose using the huge water tank beside them; this’ll temporarily distract the standing guard, allowing you to sneak around to the cupboard containing the minibar keys.

Once you have possession of the minibar keys, you can exit the room quietly by going over the cabinet on your right (assuming you’re facing the cupboard containing the keys) and sneaking back outside.
Return to Jonty and follow him back to the Ocean View Bar. Open the minibar and when Mr. White requests a drink, offer to make him a Tequila Slammer.
Mr. White will quickly drink his Tequila Slammer and that’s our first Q-Trak planted! Before leaving, exhaust all dialogue options with Mr. White to learn that he’s meeting Theresa Lorca later.
5. Plant a Q-Trak on Theresa Lorca
When you’re ready to move onto the next guest we need to plant a Q-Trak on, follow the signs towards the Tranquility Platform and eavesdrop on the two women doing yoga. They’ll be talking about how Theresa Lorca is relaxing at the Serenity Space.
Next, follow the signposts up ahead to reach the Serenity Space.
Upon going to enter the area however, staff will inform you that it’s full and turn you away. To be able to make your way inside, hack the radio that is behind the service desk (shown below).
The noise from the radio prompts two guests to leave the area, which means you can walk right in and take their place. Approach Theresa Lorca next. During the following cutscene, Bond will plant the Q-Trak in her drink and your job here is done.
Just one more Q-Trak to plant now!
6. Plant a Q-Trak on Ramon Hernandez
From the Serenity Space, use the signposts to make your way to the nearby Lotus Bar. Here, you can eavesdrop on two men in suits to learn more about Ramon Hernandez’s location and how to access it.
The conversation reveals that Hernandez is at the Hung Villa and that there’s an unguarded entrance via the cliffs surrounding the villa.
To reach this secret entrance, exit the Lotus Bar and head right towards the main entrance for the Hung Villa. From there, go along the path to your left, past the staff member, and immediately jump down to your right. You’ll now be trespassing on the grounds of Hernandez’s villa.
To access the villa from the location pictured above, head left and climb along the ledges beneath the waterfall, then climb up the rocks past that.
You’ll be hidden in some grass once you finish climbing, with three guards up ahead.
To continue, ignore the guards directly ahead and keep heading left through the grass; there’ll be two more guards along this path. Once the first is in your sight, lure him over to you (ideally out of sight of the guard standing behind him).
As the guard approaches, perform a silent takedown on him.
Go ahead and repeat this process on the second guard standing in the grass. Once that’s done, rather than approach the guards on the ground level of the villa, climb up the rocks that were to the left of where the guard you just took down was originally standing (shown below).
You’ll soon find yourself on the rooftop of the Hung Villa. Next, hack the skylight to your left (pictured below) to create a way inside. There’ll also be a guard inside the bathroom below; you can perform a takedown on him from above to quickly deal with him.
Exit the bathroom and a cutscene with Ramon Hernandez will ensue. During this, Hernandez will willingly swallow the Q-Trak. That’s all three Q-Trak’s accounted for, and you can now leave Hernandez’s villa.
7. One last thing…
After leaving the villa and speaking with Moneypenny, it’s revealed that you’ve three hours to prepare before Damien Webb arrives. Head towards your new objective marker, where Bond takes it upon himself to spend some time taking in the scenery.
While resting, continue talking to Moneypenny about the mission at hand to progress. Soon enough, she’ll prompt you to rush to Theresa Lorca’s villa after the Q-Trak shows that she’s in danger. Follow your objective marker to the Emperor Villa next.
The gate to the villa will be locked, so climb inside to gain entry. A cutscene between Bond and Theresa will follow. Enjoy!
8. Put on the bowtie
In preparation for the evening’s festivities, pick up the bowtie when prompted. Then, follow the QTE prompts (quick time event) on-screen to put the tie on.
9. Join the party, then enter the Emperor Villa
Now that James is finally dressed to impress, go ahead and make your way to the party. As you do, Moneypenny will notify you that something is up with Theresa again and prompt you to go to her villa instead. Do that.
The crates outside the Emperor Villa from earlier will have been moved, so you’ll need to gain entry by going around the left side of the building. You’ll run into multiple SUVs and guards as you do.
Take down the soldier immediately in front of you when prompted, then you’ll be reminded that you can use your suppressed pistol here without notifying anyone nearby. Use the pistol to take out the second guard here.
Now, to make infiltrating the villa easier, I recommend using the suppressed pistol on the other guards that are covering the area. Don’t forget to use the Missile Pen on any guards standing in groups to make light work of them too.
As you approach the villa, keep left and eliminate the group of three guards. If you then go left past where they were standing, you’ll run into some rocks you can climb up (shown below).
Go through the following cave and you’ll emerge at three more guards standing together; use the Missile Pen on them and keep pressing ahead.
You’ll soon find yourself by the stairs leading into the villa, but there are two armored guards here. You can use your suppressed pistol on them to quickly eliminate them, but bear in mind that this’ll take approximately three to four bullets to the head on standard difficulty (thanks to their helmets).
When the guards have been cleared out, jump over to the villa then go up the stairs and through the door to the rooftop. A small cutscene reveals Damien Webb is holding both Ellis White and Theresa Lorca hostage.
10. Save Ellis
It’s now your job to try and save both Ellis and Theresa from Damien Webb’s plans, and as a result, you’ll be given a Licence to Kill (it’s a bit late for that given all the shooting we just did but needs must).
First, you need to make your way to the wine cellar where Ellis is being held. On the rooftop still, look for the skylight that’s already been opened (shown below) and wait for the guard in the room below to stand beneath it, then perform a takedown on him.
Exit this room and enter the bathroom. The bedroom door just up ahead is already open, but there are two guards inside that you will need to clear out using either your suppressed pistol or Missile Pen to keep going. I personally waited until the two men were standing beside one another and then used the Missile Pen on them.
The noise will prompt two guards in the room beside the bedroom to come and investigate. Here, you can either wait for them to walk over and perform a silent takedown on one then fight or shoot the other, or you can wait for them to stand next to one another and use the Missile Pen again.
I did the former, with the noise once again attracting more guards. At this point, another guard on the floor came to investigate as three more guards from downstairs slowly made their way upstairs.
Here, I recommend repeating what we’ve done so far. Allow the guards to investigate, then – one guard at a time – perform takedowns on them or shoot them one at a time. You can also use the speaker inside the bedroom and any Lures you have to prompt the guards to come into the bedroom if need be.
Once the coast on this floor is completely clear, exit the bedroom and immediately vault down to the ground floor. With some luck, you should’ve cleared out most of the guards on this floor already after having lured most of them upstairs with the noise you were making.
On the ground level, there’s a hatch leading to the wine cellar hidden amongst the foliage in this area (pictured below). Go down it.
Down here, one door will lead to some supplies while the other door leads further into the cellar. If you use your Q-Lens in the latter, you’ll see Ellis White and some guards in the following room. Kick down the door and immediately shoot at the two guards until they’re downed. Then, approach Ellis.
At this point, a very drunk Ellis will start throwing accusations at you. You’ll then end up fighting him, which is no bother, as this drunk buffoon will go down with one punch. Oh dear! Anyways, we have someone else to save…
11. Save Theresa Lorca
Exit via the open shutters in this room and head right along the mossy rocks.
Once you’re past the rocks, there’ll be more guards to clear out.
Use your suppressed pistol on one of the guards without a helmet, then pick up his gun and use it to quickly kill the armored guard here. It should have just enough ammo to do the job. Then, throw this gun at the third guard’s head, which allows us to immediately perform a takedown on him. That’s the situation quickly contained!
Keep pressing ahead and left, where there’s more guards to clear out. At this point, there’s so many of them that I started using the Missile Pen again to quickly clear multiple of them out simultaneously, and then I picked up their guns and used them on whoever remained. I recommend that you do the same.
Fortunately, Theresa isn’t too far away. Just up ahead, there’ll be a cutscene in which Bond witnesses her being taken by Murto and ziplines right over to her.
12. Defeat Murto
Our friend who we fought with in Mission 3 – Murto – hasn’t yet learnt their lesson and is back for more. Now’s the time to utilise everything that you’ve learnt so far and take him down once more.
Remember, parry whenever the yellow glint appears and immediately follow up with a punch where possible. Then, whenever Murto can be seen blocking, be sure to go in for a grab attack to do some real damage to him. Don’t forget to throw the items scattered around the room at him to stun him too!
With those basics down, you’ll be able to take him down sooner or later. Once he has been downed, vault out of the window in the room to escape… temporarily.
13. Keep Damien talking
After the cutscene, you’ll wake up in a trap that feels like it’s straight from a SAW movie. Bound to a table with a huge chainsaw coming straight for you, you now need to keep Damien Webb talking in an attempt to buy time.
The dialogue options I chose which allowed me to successfully escape are as follows:
- MI6 knows everything.
- This is all your father’s fault.
- Don’t do this.
Not long after this, someone will come to save Bond from imminent death as per usual. This time, we have Greenway to thank.
14. Reach Greenway
You’ll now find yourself trying to flee the rest of Webb’s men, except you’re handcuffed, weaponless, and don’t have any Gadgets.
To make your way through this area, you instead need to call out any incoming soldiers using your Q-Lens, then Greenway will shoot them for you. Do this while pushing forward in the quarry, towards Greenway’s location.
15. Pursue Damien and rescue Greenway
Once reunited with Greenway and freed from your handcuffs, it’s time to pursue Damien Webb.
You now need to follow your objective marker on your Q-Lens to his location while fending off the guards, which you’ll need to do using your gun and fists alone, as you still have no Gadgets currently.
Start by pressing ahead and climbing along the blue pipes to cross the quarry, then prepare for a large group of guards. As you approach, Greenway will cause an explosion to help deal with some of them; you’ll need to go about gunning down the rest – with Greenway’s help – if you want safe passage to Damien’s location.
Once Greenway says he needs to move to different cover, continue pressing ahead through the quarry and towards your objective.
Another group of guards will appear, and you’ll need to clear them out solo while Greenway attempts to seek safety. Continue to gun them down, and when your ammo is depleted, make sure to throw your gun at them to be able to perform a quick takedown. Then, take the gun that they drop and repeat the process!
While doing this, Greenway will advise he’s being shot at from all angles, so your objective will change; you’ll need to rescue Greenway before you can continue pursuing Damien.
Continue through the quarry until you are able to see Greenway again, then hop in the huge construction vehicle that your camera pans towards. Time for some fun!
Drive the vehicle forwards and collect Greenway. The vehicle will break down shortly after and Greenway will hand you his sniper. You’ll need to fend off guards from the vehicle while Greenway tries to get it started again.
Once Greenway gets the truck working again, hop back inside and start driving. It’ll stop working again shortly and Greenway will hold the remaining guards off while you seek out Damien.
Outside now, you need to press towards your objective marker which means parkouring around and climbing the pipes and ledges of the buildings up ahead. Fortunately, there’s no guards here for now, so you can do this without disruption.
After making your way around the buildings, you’ll be thrown into a boss fight against Damien.
16. Defeat Damien
Trying to fight Damien outright isn’t going to be fruitful; he’s agile and tough, and you’ll need to slow him down before going in for the kill.
Fortunately, a hint for the fight tells us that marble rocks can be thrown at Damien to stagger him, creating an opening for us to attack. Focus on trying to do this before punching him.
As the fight progresses, you’ll also be notified that the lights in the area can be used to stun Damien, so be sure to go and turn these on while he’s pursuing you. This creates another opening while Damien is temporarily blinded, so you can attack him again.
At around half health, Damien decides to make things unfair and pulls out his gun. At this point, you want to take cover and avoid him as best as possible until you’re able to blind or stun him again, then attack while he’s staggered.
Fortunately, any lights you have used to stun Damien so far will also be reset after a short delay, allowing you to use them again. Just make sure to avoid his gunfire whenever you go to interact with these. You’ll also be able to vault attack him from behind cover, but be sure to retreat immediately after you do this to avoid being hit by Damien immediately afterwards.
After dealing some more damage to Damien’s health, you’ll conclude the fight with a button mash QTE. Goodbye Damien!
Bond will now be reunited with Greenway and your time in Vietnam will come to a close. It’s shortly going to be time for you to embark on Mission 9 — Wave of the Future.
