An online petition telling Real Madrid to get rid of Kylian Mbappe has garnered over 360,000 signatures after his behaviour upset fans.

Mbappe is the biggest name at the club these days, with a mega contract and huge profile, making him the ultimate example of the modern galácticos at the Spanish club.

However, with Real failing to win a trophy this season, it seems Madridistas have turned on their star man and made him a scapegoat.

Real Madrid fans are not happy with Kylian Mbappe

For all his talent, Mbappe has long been accused of having a selfish style of play, and his attitude has come under question time and time again.

The Frenchman has scored 24 goals in 28 league games this season, but it’s simply not good enough for Real Madrid supporters, who are disappointed in his level of performance.

Meanwhile, it’s reported Mbappe has distanced himself from his teammates in the dressing room and even fell out with training staff recently, according to reports from MARCA.

Now, there is an online petition allowing fans to call for Mbappe’s departure. At the time of writing, the petition had over 360,000 digital signatures.

However, it is worth taking this all with a hefty pinch of salt.

For one, anyone can sign the petition, regardless of whether they support Real Madrid or not. There is no login or verification process, and all it takes to add your name to the list is one click of a button. You can even sign multiple times if you use different browsers.

While the legitimacy of the petition can be questioned, there is no denying that Mbappe is not as popular around Madrid as he would hope. There is precedent for big players struggling to win over the crowd at the famous club, too, with the likes of Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard failing to settle in Madrid in the past.

Madrid face Barcelona in El Clásico next weekend, knowing that the La Liga title will almost certainly be heading to their fierce rivals. A draw in that game will hand the championship to Barca, which would be another kick in the teeth for disgruntled Madridistas.
