If you plan on picking up a Nintendo Switch 2, and you see yourself using it in docked (TV) mode at least some of the time, then you’ll want to ensure that your experience is as high-fidelity as it can possibly be. After all, the console is shaping up to be a mini power house in its own right.

If you’re like me and are bummed out that the Switch 2 doesn’t ship with an OLED display panel, then there’s a silver lining: you can still take advantage of OLED’s vivid colors and perfect blacks when in docked mode. THe S95D is available in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch sizing options, and it comes with all the bells and whistles you’d hope for: 4K resolution, glare reduction, OLED HDR Pro and HDR 10+ support, and 360 spatial audio. The TV’s 144Hz refresh rate is entirely overkill for the Switch 2, which maxes out at 120Hz on select titles. Of course, you’re paying for future proofing here — the Switch 3 will arrive eventually, right?

The Hisense U88N is a great example of this — the TV is available in a range of sizes (all the way up to 100-inches), and it features a 4K resolution, Mini LED tech for local dimming zones, and a responsive 120Hz refresh rate.
The Hisense U88N also leverages quantum dot display technology, which is designed to improve the performance and output of colors on screen. While this tech might not be a true substitute for OLED, it’s still able to provide an excellent LCD-based viewing experience across the board. THe U88N also features a low reflection screen, with Hisense promising the removal of up to 75 percent of unwanted glare.

The LG Evo C4 is another premium television set, and an OLED-based one at that. The TV offers 4K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision HDR, and more. The product is available in several size configurations, ranging from 42-inches all the way up to 83-inches diagonally,
LG also includes several gaming-focused features on the Evo C4, including NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium. Both of these technologies are designed to help synchronize the TV’s refresh rate with that of your game console, with the former implementation being designed by the same company that’s producing the Switch 2’s processor. LG promises a 0.1ms response time on the Evo C4, which might come in handy during a theoretical next-gen Super Smash Bros tourny.

The TV offers 4K resolution, HDR support in the form of HDR PRO+, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+, as well as quantum dot technology, not unlike the aforementioned Hisense U88 model on this list. Elsewhere, the 43Q651G is available in several size classes, ranging from 43-inches all the way to 98-inches.
The one concession here is that the 43Q651G ships with a 60Hz refresh rate, which means that you won’t be able to enjoy the silkier 120Hz gaming option within supported Nintendo Switch 2 titles. Of course, the console’s built-in display is 120Hz, so you can still undock the hybrid device for a more performant experience while on-the-go.
