9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

It’s somewhat hard to believe that Kepler Interactive has only been open for business for a few short years, starting in 2021. In that time, this London and Singapore-based publisher has given us several incredible gaming experiences.

Better yet, they’re not a one-trick pony and have all sorts of genres represented by their library. That includes utterly mind-numbing horror, explosive action games, sprawling adventures, and epic role-playing adventures.

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

If you’re not already familiar with the publisher, you’ll want to remedy that by checking out this eclectic assortment of games. Without further ado, here’s our list of every Kepler Interactive Game, ranked.

9 Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Gunpowder and Magic

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

Even though I’m personally not a big fan of either open-world or most Souls games, I have to admit that Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn certainly has a compelling premise.

It’s all about The Door to the Great Below being opened up and unleashing Gods and their armies of the dead upon the world of Kian.

All you can do, in turn, is to use gunpowder and magic to wreak vengeance upon them all. You play a member of the Coalition, Nor Vanek, along with your fox guide, named Enki.

While Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is certainly a beautiful and captivatingly dark world, the game itself can be unbalanced in your favor, and it’s a pretty short burn.

8 Scorn

Stuff of Nightmares

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

Over the years, several companies have moved away from true horror and instead lent themselves to more action-packed forays into horror worlds, such as the recent Resident Evil games.

Not so with Scorn. This adventure from Kepler Interactive embraces horror in a profound way, and it’s certain to overwhelm and terrify you with truly awful body horror.

If you’re squeamish and easily terrified like I am, you won’t be able to get very far in Scorn. This first-person nightmare is jam-packed with sights, sounds, and monsters that will make you panic.

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

Worst of all, the game has no mercy for those who don’t pay attention, and you’ll get decimated if you wander into a trap or miss key items you need to proceed.

Impressive visually and thematically, but not for the faint of heart.

7 Tchia

Colorful Island Adventures

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

In many ways, Tchia is like if the Moana movies were turned into a videogame. It’s a tropical adventure with you controlling the titular heroine.

Unlike Moana, Tchia doesn’t control water, but she has a really neat talent — she can soul jump into different animals! This skill makes exploring this vast world that much more interesting. However, don’t think it’s all fun and games.

You’ll also find yourself face to face with dangerous foes called Maano, creatures spawned from wood and fabric.

If you’re more in it for relaxation, you’ll find tons of customization options in the game to make our heroine look extra fly. A warm and enjoyable adventure, and a nice change of pace from the first two games. But we still have plenty more left.

6 Ultros

Psychedelic Groundhog Day

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

Even though I’m the exception to the many that adored Ultros, I can still find some bright spots in this eclectic Metroidvania. For one thing, the premise of boarding the Sarcophagus and infiltrating a cosmic uterus is pretty unique.

Then there’s the whole rewinding the clock aspect of Ultros, as well as the truly memorable and colorful visual style.

Where the game fell short for me was how it lacked that satisfying gameplay loop that is so integral to the genre, of finding a new item, using it to explore, rinse and repeat. That’s all thrown into chaos by losing all your abilities whenever time is rewound.

Still, if you can look past that to what the game does well, you’ll find a noteworthy adventure in Ultros.

5 Pacific Drive

Brave the Olympic Exclusion Zone

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

Even though I’m not a gearhead, I love the weird vibe of Pacific Drive.

It’s a Pacific Northwest thrown into chaos by something called the Olympic Exclusion Zone, a place where physics don’t behave properly, and strange phenomena make life dangerous.

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

Unlike in many games, you don’t play a hero with special powers. No, all you have going for you is your car, which you’ll upgrade with alien technology to get farther and farther through the Zone, all in your quest to somehow escape its clutches.

You’ll find yourself swept up in the mystery of Pacific Drive, even if you’re not a huge fan of automobiles. Just get ready to put the pedal to the metal if you want to make it out in one piece.

4 Sifu

Ready? Fight!

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

If you’re not a fan of hardcore, then perhaps Sifu isn’t the action game for you.

It’s a game where repeated failure doesn’t just make you feel bad, it causes your character to age to the point where he can’t fight any longer.

As such, it’ll behoove you to learn how foes attack and master how to counter them. Don’t expect them to make it easy by telegraphing their intent, either, this isn’t that sort of game.

For those who master the game, they’ll find a captivating tale of revenge with steep odds and brutal foes. A worthy contender, but we saved the very best for the final entries.

3 Bionic Bay

Physics and Mad Science

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a good platformer. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking Mario, Mega Man, Fez, or Limbo, I love all kinds.

Which brings us to one from Kepler Interactive called Bionic Bay. It’s about a strange biomechanical world where you’ll learn to use a powerful swap ability, as well as physics, to survive.

If you’re something of a completionist, there’s also competitive speedrunning against ghosts, which sounds more of a nuisance to me.

A wonderful game with stunning sound design and a unique visual hook. Next up, how about some furry friends?

2 Cat Quest III

Ahoy, Me Furries!

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

It says something about Cat Quest III that I originally played it, not having touched the first two games, and came away utterly charmed by the adventure.

This is a tale of cats, dogs, and all manner of pirates. Everybody is hungry for a powerful relic, and only you and your ghostly companion have a chance of finding it in time.

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

The game is very much open-ended, allowing you to roam freely with your pirate ship, collecting loot, taking quests, and defeating powerful foes. You can use your trusty sword and pistol to fight, or discover a more eclectic armament. When all else fails, use powerful magic to help even the odds.

Combine all this with a charming story, lush art, and great humor, and you have a game that could have taken the gold. If not for the last contender on this list, that is…

1 Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Au Revoir, Free Time…

9 Best Kepler Interactive Games, Ranked

It feels like, every year, there’s at least a handful of games that come out of nowhere to defy all expectations and plant themselves in our collective consciousness.

One of those outstanding adventures was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Not only is this JRPG full of a unique French flavor, but it manages to defy the odds in every conceivable way. It’s a solemn game about hope despite the odds, and what we’re willing to do to change things for the better.

Most glorious, though, is how Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 mixes real-time dodging and countering with turn-based combat, both enhanced by the breathtaking visuals.

It takes a lot for an RPG to break out of the pack, but this French adventure does so and then some. Get ready for your heart to get broken in the sweetest way possible.
