How to complete Upton Travers' Templar Hunt in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The Upton Travers (and Vance Travers) Templar Hunt in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is one of four Templar Hunt side quests you’ll need to complete if you wish to get your hands on the Templar Armor. This is a great armor set that’ll help you with your pirate and anomaly-filled adventure, so it’s worth trying to get early on.

AC Black Flag Resynced Upton Travers Templar Hunt walkthrough
Vance Travers, the second of the four Templar Hunt targets, is located in the region of Eleuthera on the island of Nassau. Go and speak to him there, where he’s found standing outside of a small wooden house towards the south of the island.
It turns out that Vance Travers wants a little help dealing with his brother, Upton Travers, and you’ll be tasked by Vance with locating Upton’s hideout next.
1. Oh Brother…
Your first clue for this side mission will be that Upton’s men are meeting at the nearby market. Head north towards your quest marker until you enter the ‘Explore’ area and use your Eagle Vision to look for green markers; these are Upton’s men.
You then have two options, which are as follows:
- Tail Upton’s men — You can sneak behind Upton’s men and have them lead you to the hideout.
- Kill Upton’s men — If you’re caught during the above process, you can kill Upton’s men. While this means you can’t follow them to the exact hideout location, this does reduce the ‘Explore’ location on your map massively.
I was caught by Upton’s men and was left with no option but to kill them. After this, you’re tasked with locating Upton and the ‘Explore’ area on your map is reduced in size. Head west towards your objective and you’ll shortly reach the hideout, and Upton Travers himself is standing smack-bang in the middle of it.
You know what to do next; wait for the coast to be clear and then attempt to assassinate the Templar. You’ll be stopped by Upton as you do though…
2. The Other Brother
Next, go and meet Upton Travers at the bureau in Nassau – marked on your map – as requested by him.
Speak to Upton once you meet him and start following him. Once he prompts you to hide, seek cover in the bushes beside where Upton chooses to stand.
While hiding, eavesdrop on the conversation between the two brothers. Following the conversation, approach Upton and follow him. Midway through your chat, you’ll be tasked with killing Jing Lang’s men, so go and do that.
You’ll then need to investigate the house that Jing Lang’s men had surrounded. On the right-hand side of it, you’ll find a letter from Jing Lang on a wooden crate. This reveals that Vance has gone to meet her with his half of the map you’re searching for.
After speaking with Upton, he’ll seek safety while you go and track down Vance and Jing Lang at the tavern, where you’ll need to eavesdrop on their conversation without being seen. Follow your quest marker and listen to the pair.
It’ll be revealed that Vance has hired someone to assassinate Upton so that he and Jing Lang can steal Upton’s half of the map. You’ll now need to return to Upton’s hideout and defend him.
As you approach Upton’s hideout, he will already be getting attacked. Defend him from the soldiers until the coast is once again clear.
Afterwards, you’ll be prompted to speak to Upton again. He’ll then move north to the tavern (pictured below), where you’ll need to go and meet him again to begin your next quest.
3. Upton’s Sorrow
A very drunken Upton will confide in you, before then starting a brawl at the tavern… You’ll need to once again defend Upton from his attackers. Afterwards, you’ll need to escort the drunken brother to safety, which means following him and keeping him out of trouble.
During the short journey, Upton will solicit some dancers and ask you to pay them; do that. Edward will pay 100 Reules for the dancers to leave Upton alone, and you can keep moving.
Up next, Upton decides that a little bit of public indecency wouldn’t go amiss and begins to urinate in the street. This, of course, attracts the unsavory attention of some guards which you’ll then need to clear out in order to keep escorting Upton home.
Once you’re able to continue escorting Upton to safety, a prompt to talk to him will soon appear; hear him out. This conversation marks the end of your escort adventure.
4. Queen of Pirates, King of Fools
To continue your hunt for the next Templar Key, track Upton Travers again on your map and head to his next location in the east of the island (shown below).
You’ll be able to talk to a much more sober Upton now, and you’ll be given your final objective: assassinate Vance Travers to recover the Templar Key. He’s located in the swamp east of where you’ll have just spoken to Upton.
If you parkour along the trees just up ahead, you’ll come to some guards loading a boat that you can kill. After dealing with them, use your Eagle Vision and look north, where you should see a glowing green marker by a white tent.
You’ll now need to head over to this tent while dispatching any guards along the way, and assassinate Vance Travers there while you’re at it.
Following the brief cutscene that ensues, you’ll be faced with Jing Lang, who you’ll now need to follow as she runs off into the swamp. Once you finally catch up with her, you’ll need to assassinate her. This allows you to finally get your hands on the third Templar Key — two more to go!
Before you’re completely done with this Templar Hunt however, return to Upton and inform him of the situation. Once that’s done, it’s time to move onto your next Templar Hunt in Kingston, where you’ll be helping someone known as Anto.
