Grow a Garden: New Prehistoric Update Mutations Detailed

Sandy Mutation (3.894x Multiplier) — NEW!

The Sandy mutation covers your crops in a realistic sand coating during the new Sandstorm weather events. This prehistoric-themed mutation gives your fruits a desert-worn appearance with sand particles swirling around them. With a 3.894x multiplier, it’s not massive on its own, but it’s crucial for creating the more valuable Clay and Ceramic mutations. During Sandstorms, which last about 3 minutes, your entire garden has a chance to get Sandy mutations. The visual effect shows your crops looking like they’ve been buried in ancient sand dunes!

Clay Mutation (10x Multiplier) — NEW!

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The Clay mutation is created when Sandy crops get wet! When rain hits your Sandy mutated fruits, they transform into muddy, clay-covered treasures with a solid 10x multiplier. The visual effect is striking – your crops look like they’re dripping with prehistoric mud, perfect for the dinosaur theme. This mutation replaces both Sandy and Wet, so you lose those individual multipliers but gain the more valuable Clay. I recommend having a full garden of Sandy crops ready when rain is announced!

Ceramic Mutation (30x Multiplier) — NEW!

The Ceramic mutation is the premium evolution of Sandy crops, created by applying heat! You can get it two ways: use Burnt Mutation Spray (3 Summer Coins) on Sandy crops, or wait for the rare Sundried mutation during Heatwave. The result is a beautiful dark, baked clay appearance that looks like ancient pottery. With a 30x multiplier, it’s one of the best accessible mutations for regular players. The easier route is definitely the Burnt spray method!

Amber Mutation (10x + Evolution) — NEW!

The Amber mutation is the star of the Prehistoric update! Applied through the craftable Amber Mutation Spray (costs 1 Cleaning Spray, 1 Dinosaur Egg, and 1M Sheckles) or rarely by the Raptor pet, this mutation makes your crops look like they’re preserved in golden prehistoric amber. What makes Amber special is that it EVOLVES over time into Ancientamber and eventually Oldamber, though the exact multipliers for these evolved forms are still being discovered. The fossilized appearance is absolutely stunning!

Natural Mutations (2x-50x)

Wet Mutation (2x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The Wet mutation is your bread and butter for consistent profit multiplication. When it’s raining, your fruits will have a 50% chance to get the Wet mutation, along with a significant boost in plant growth rate. I love this mutation because it affects your entire garden simultaneously, making rainy days incredibly profitable. The visual effect shows realistic water droplets dripping from your crops, making them look fresh and dewy. During rain events, I always make sure to have my garden fully planted with high-value crops like Dragon Fruit or Cacao. The combination of faster growth and guaranteed mutations means you can harvest multiple times during a single rain event, effectively quadrupling your profits or more!

Gold Mutation (20x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The drop rate for Gold mutation is 1%, which means 1 out of every 100 fruits can have it. This mutation transforms your crops into shimmering golden treasures with floating stars circling around them. The best strategy I’ve found is to fill every inch of your garden with densely packed plants – the more crops you have, the better your chances. You can also use a Dragonfly pet, which randomly applies Gold mutations every 4:52 minutes. The golden shimmer effect is absolutely beautiful, especially on larger fruits like watermelons or pumpkins. When selling Gold mutated crops, I always wait until I have a full inventory to maximize my trips to Steven’s Shop.

Rainbow Mutation (50x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The Rainbow mutation is even harder to get than the Gold one. The reason is that this mutation in Grow a Garden only has a 0.1% chance, which is 1 in every 1000 fruits, of appearing on any random fruit. The visual effect is stunning – your fruit constantly shifts through all colors of the spectrum with a beautiful rainbow halo surrounding it. To maximize your chances, use Advanced or Godly sprinklers in densely planted areas. The Butterfly pet can also apply this mutation, though it’s still quite rare. I’ve found that planting expensive multi-harvest crops like Starfruit gives the best return on investment when hunting for Rainbow mutations.

Weather Mutations (2x-100x)

Shocked Mutation (50x-100x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

You can get this mutation when the weather in your server changes to Thunderstorms. It happens rarely, but when it does, there’s a small chance for lightning to strike your crops. The Shocked mutation creates one of the most visually impressive effects – your crops literally glow with electricity, emitting bright light particles that can be seen from across the map. I always use a Lightning Rod to increase my chances during thunderstorms. The key is to have your garden completely full when the storm hits. Single-harvest expensive crops like Moon Melon or Beanstalk are perfect for thunderstorms since you want maximum value from each strike.

Frozen Mutation (10x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The Frozen mutation occurs during snow weather and encases your fruits in crystal-clear ice cubes. Frozen is the evolved form of this mutation and boosts the selling price by 10 times. While some players find the large ice cubes visually obstructive, I think they look amazing, especially on colorful fruits. The mutation has specific stacking rules – if a crop is already Wet, it can become Frozen during snow, but Chilled and Frozen cannot coexist. During snow events, I prioritize my most valuable crops near spawn since the weather effects are sometimes stronger there.

Chilled Mutation (2x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The Chilled mutation is one of them that increases the price of your fruits by 2 times its original value. This mutation creates a gentle snowfall effect around your crops, with delicate snowflakes constantly falling. It’s less valuable than Frozen but much more common during snow weather. The visual effect is subtle but beautiful, especially on darker fruits where the white snowflakes create nice contrast. I often use Chilled crops as a baseline for stacking other mutations since it’s relatively easy to obtain during winter events.

Drenched Mutation (5x Multiplier) — Mega Summer Update

The Drenched mutation is a powerful addition from the Mega Summer Harvest update that occurs during Tropical Rain events. This mutation gives your crops a heavily water-soaked appearance, as if they’ve been drenched in a warm tropical downpour. With a solid 5x multiplier, it’s significantly better than the regular Wet mutation. During Tropical Rain, you also get a 50% growth speed boost, making this one of the most efficient weather events for farming. The visual effect shows your crops glistening with heavy moisture, creating a lush tropical garden aesthetic. I always prioritize planting during Tropical Rain events since the combination of growth boost and decent multiplier makes for excellent profits!

Sundried Mutation (85x Multiplier) — Summer Update

The Sundried mutation can only be obtained during the Heatwave event in Grow a Garden. This powerful mutation gives your crops a sun-baked appearance with an impressive 85x multiplier! During Heatwave weather (introduced in the Summer update), your crops have a chance to become Sundried, looking as if they’ve been basking in intense summer heat. The visual effect shows a dried, slightly shriveled texture with golden-brown coloring. What makes this mutation particularly special is its ability to combine with Verdant to create the Paradisal mutation. I always make sure my garden is full when Heatwave weather is announced!

Pet-Induced Mutations (3x-20x)

Pollinated Mutation (3x Multiplier)

The pollinated mutation was added in the Bizzy Bees update of Grow a Garden. This cheerful mutation covers your crops in bright yellow pollen with tiny bee particles buzzing around. You can get it through Bee Swarm events, various Bee pets, or by manually deploying bees with Robux. I love using my collection of bee pets because they consistently apply this mutation throughout the day. The 3x multiplier might seem small, but when combined with other mutations, it adds significant value. Plus, the buzzing sound effects and bee animations make your garden feel alive!

Verdant Mutation (4x Multiplier) — Summer Update

The Verdant mutation is obtainable only by the Scarlet Macaw’s passive. This tropical green mutation gives your crops a lush, leafy appearance that screams summer vibes. The Scarlet Macaw applies the Verdant mutation every 11.48 minutes with a 16.25% chance in Grow a Garden. While the 4x multiplier isn’t massive, this mutation is crucial because it can combine with Sundried to create the more valuable Paradisal mutation. The Scarlet Macaw is obtained from the Paradise Egg (50 million Sheckles) with an 8% hatch chance, making it quite rare and expensive to obtain.

Burnt Mutation (2x Multiplier)

The Burnt mutation gives your crops a charred, crispy appearance with smoke effects. Applied by the (Unreleased) Red Dragon pet or the (Now Unobtainable) Burnt Owl pet. While it’s only a 2x multiplier, the unique aesthetic appeals to many collectors. The mutation cannot stack with Cooked, so you need to choose wisely. I’ve seen players trade valuable items just for Burnt Owl pets because of their rarity. The charred effect looks particularly striking on fruits that are normally bright colored, creating an interesting contrast.

Cooked Mutation (10x Multiplier)

If you were lucky enough to attend the Working Bees Crafting Update event, you received the Cooked Owl Pet that applies this mutation. The Cooked Owl Pet creates a delicious-looking steamed effect on your crops, complete with rising steam particles. The 10x multiplier makes it significantly more valuable than Burnt, and the visual effect of steam rising from fresh-cooked vegetables is oddly satisfying. Since Cooked Owl pets are limited, they’re highly sought after in trading communities.

Event Mutations (18x-150x)

Aurora Mutation (90x Multiplier) — Mega Summer Update

The Aurora mutation is a breathtaking addition from the Mega Summer Harvest update that occurs during Aurora Borealis events. This spectacular mutation creates dancing northern lights effects around your crops, making them shimmer with ethereal green, blue, and purple waves. With an impressive 90x multiplier, it’s one of the most valuable weather-based mutations available to regular players. During Aurora Borealis events, you also get a 50% growth speed boost, and the event announcement mentions «dancing lights that whisper through the northern night.» The visual effect is absolutely mesmerizing – your crops appear to be touched by the mystical northern lights themselves. This has quickly become one of my favorite mutations to hunt for!

Paradisal Mutation (18x Multiplier) — Summer Update

When both Verdant and Sundried are present on the same crop, they combine to create the Paradisal mutation. It works similarly to how the Wet mutation turns into Frozen in a winter weather event. This tropical paradise effect transforms your crops into vacation-worthy specimens with vibrant colors and a resort-like atmosphere. The 18x multiplier might seem low compared to other event mutations, but considering it’s obtainable through pet and weather combinations rather than admin events, it’s actually quite valuable. The visual effect combines the lush greenery of Verdant with the sun-kissed warmth of Sundried, creating a beautiful tropical aesthetic.

Bloodlit Mutation (4x Multiplier)

The Bloodlit mutation can be obtained only during the Blood Moon event. This is a very rare event that occurs every 3 hours in the game and lasts just 10 minutes. During Blood Moons, your entire garden can transform into a crimson paradise. The deep red mist effect creates an eerie but valuable atmosphere. I always set timers for Blood Moon events and ensure my garden is packed with multi-harvest plants. The 4x multiplier might seem modest, but when stacked with other mutations it adds significant value. Plus, the event’s rarity makes Bloodlit fruits excellent for trading. Pro tip: Use the Favorite Tool to lock Bloodlit crops so you don’t accidentally harvest them before stacking more mutations!

Galactic Mutation (120x Multiplier) — Pre-Summer Event

The Space Travel event took place before the Summer update in Grow a Garden. During the event, an anti-gravity effect was applied to the lobby, and the Galactic mutation could be applied. This spectacular mutation creates a mesmerizing galaxy swirl effect around your crops, making them look like they contain entire star systems. The 120x multiplier matches Celestial in value, but the Galactic mutation was only available during the limited Space Travel event, making these crops extremely rare. The visual effect includes swirling nebulas, twinkling stars, and cosmic dust that rotates around the fruit. Players who obtained Galactic mutations during the event now have some of the rarest collectibles in the game!

Celestial Mutation (120x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

Celestial is another great pick for F2P players. You can collect more of these fruits by waiting for the right weather during nighttime or placing Star Callers regularly. This mutation creates a mesmerizing starfield effect around your crops, making them look like they contain entire galaxies. The 120x multiplier makes it one of the most valuable obtainable mutations for regular players. Star Callers are expensive but worth the investment – I place them strategically around my highest value crops. The celestial effect is particularly stunning at night when the stars seem to twinkle more brightly.

Voidtouched Mutation (135x Multiplier)

The Voidtouched mutation is applied to the crops only during a Black Hole event when spawned by the admins or developers of the game. This admin-exclusive event creates a massive black hole that makes players fly around while applying dark purple void effects to crops. The 135x multiplier makes it incredibly valuable, but the rarity means most players will never see it. When a Black Hole event occurs, the entire server goes wild trying to get as many Voidtouched crops as possible. The dark purple aura with swirling void particles creates one of the most unique visual effects in the game.

Dawnbound Mutation (150x Multiplier — Sunflower Only)

When four players coordinate and achieve this, they have a low chance of receiving the Dawnbound mutation, which gives the flower a neon yellow glow. This is the highest value mutation in the game at 150x, but it only applies to Sunflowers during the Sun God event. The coordination required makes it incredibly challenging – you need four players holding Sunflowers in perfect formation. The neon yellow glow is blindingly bright and absolutely gorgeous. I’ve only successfully obtained Dawnbound twice, and both times the entire server celebrated together!

Moonlit Mutation (2x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

With the new Lunar event in Grow a Garden, we now have a night cycle in the game for the first time. The Moonlit mutation bathes your crops in ethereal blue moonlight, creating a peaceful nighttime garden aesthetic. While only a 2x multiplier, it’s relatively common during night cycles and stacks well with other mutations. Using the Night Staff guarantees six Moonlit mutations, making it a great tool for targeted mutation farming. The soft blue glow looks especially beautiful on white or light-colored fruits.

Tool/Secret Mutations (2x-8x)

Choc Mutation (2x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The Choc mutation was introduced to the game during the Easter event in Grow a Garden. This delicious-looking mutation coats your fruits in rich chocolate, complete with a glossy finish. Originally exclusive to the $500,000 Chocolate Sprinkler during Easter, it’s now occasionally available through admin-triggered Chocolate Rain events or the new Choc Mutation Spray. The chocolate coating effect is mouth-watering, especially on strawberries and other berries. While only 2x value, the unique appearance makes these highly tradeable among collectors who missed the Easter event.

Cloudtouched Mutation (4x Multiplier) — Mega Summer Update

The Cloudtouched mutation is one of the new additions from the Mega Summer Harvest update, obtainable through the Cloudtouched Mutation Spray. This ethereal mutation gives your crops a misty, cloud-like appearance with wisps of fog swirling around them. With a 4x multiplier, it’s a decent stacking mutation that adds both value and visual appeal. The mutation spray mechanic allows for targeted application, giving players more control over their mutation strategy. The cloudy effect is particularly stunning on blue or white fruits, making them look like they’re floating in the sky!

Wiltproof Mutation (3x Multiplier) — Secret Mutation

The Wiltproof mutation is one of the mysterious «secret mutations» that players are still figuring out. This mutation makes your crops appear eternally fresh and vibrant, as if they’re immune to wilting or decay. With a 3x multiplier, it’s a useful addition to any mutation stack. The exact method to obtain this mutation remains a closely guarded secret, with various theories circulating in the community. Some players believe it’s related to specific pet combinations or rare weather events. The visual effect shows crops with an enhanced, glossy appearance that radiates health and vitality!

Fried Mutation (8x Multiplier) — Secret Mutation

The Fried mutation is another mysterious addition from the Mega Summer Harvest update. This mutation gives your crops a golden, oil-dripping appearance as if they’ve been deep-fried to perfection. With an 8x multiplier, it’s quite valuable for a secret mutation. The exact method to obtain this mutation is still unknown, leading to wild speculation in the community. The visual effect shows golden oil dripping from crispy-looking crops, making them look deliciously unhealthy!

Admin/Exclusive Mutations

Disco Mutation (125x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

Disco is undoubtedly the best variant in GaG that’s also easy to get. Just use Disco Bees to collect multiple of these every in-game day. The Disco mutation transforms your garden into a party with multicolored flashing lights and dance floor effects. The 125x multiplier makes it incredibly valuable, while the Disco Bee pet makes it somewhat accessible. The visual effect includes rotating disco balls, flashing rainbow lights, and even subtle music notes floating around. I’ve built my entire garden strategy around Disco Bees, and the consistent high-value mutations have made me billions!

Lazer Mutation (50x Multiplier)

The Lazer mutation is an exclusive admin event mutation triggered during Lazer Storm events. When the giant Jandel NPC appears and shoots laser beams across gardens, affected crops gain this powerful mutation. The visual effect shows laser beam particles emanating from your crops with a sci-fi aesthetic. While the 50x multiplier is lower than some other admin mutations, the rarity and unique appearance make these crops highly sought after. I recommend staying online around update times for the best chance to catch a Lazer Storm event!

Twisted Mutation (30x Multiplier)

The Twisted mutation was supposed to appear during Tornado events but has been extremely rare since the cosmetics update. This elusive mutation creates a swirling tornado effect around your crops, making them look like they’re caught in a miniature cyclone. With a 30x multiplier, it’s valuable enough to be worth hunting for, though many players have never seen it. The visual effect includes spinning wind particles and a twisted appearance that makes affected crops look dramatically windswept.

Special Mutations

Zombified Mutation (10x Multiplier)

All 44+ Mutations and Multipliers in Grow a Garden (July 2025)

The Zombified mutation gives crops an eerie green tint with decay effects during zombie-themed admin events. The 10x multiplier is decent, but the real value comes from the mutation’s rarity and unique appearance. Zombie events usually coincide with Halloween or special updates, making Zombified crops seasonal collectibles. The green mist and occasional groaning sound effects create a spooky atmosphere that some players love to maintain year-round in their gardens.

Meteoric Mutation (25x Multiplier)

The developer has added a new admin-exclusive Meteor event, where a meteor drops out of the sky. This event gives your fruit the Meteoric mutation. This spectacular mutation creates fiery trails and impact crater effects around your crops. The 25x multiplier combined with the dramatic visual makes it highly sought after. During Meteor events (now part of Prehistoric update weather), flaming space rocks crash into gardens, instantly applying the mutation to nearby crops. The combination of fire effects, smoke trails, and crater impacts makes this one of the most visually impressive mutations.

Molten Mutation (25x Multiplier)

During this event, a massive volcano appears from behind the Gear Shop, and it spews massive red, yellow and orange glowing cubes which roll into people’s gardens. The Molten mutation makes crops glow with intense lava-like effects in red, orange, and yellow. The volcanic event is chaotic and exciting – giant lava cubes roll through gardens, transforming everything they touch. The 25x multiplier rewards players who position their gardens strategically to catch multiple cubes. The molten effect includes bubbling lava textures and heat shimmer, making affected crops look like they’re fresh from a volcano!

Ripe Mutation (Special — Sugar Apple Only)

Another growth mutation called Ripe, can only be obtained on the Sugar Apple, which makes the Sugar Apple and Sunflower the only plants with a unique mutation. Unlike other mutations, Ripe doesn’t provide a multiplier but instead enhances the Sugar Apple’s appearance with deeper, richer colors and a glossy finish. This unique mutation makes Sugar Apples special among collectors. While it doesn’t increase value directly, Ripe Sugar Apples are often traded at premium prices due to their exclusivity and enhanced appearance.

How to Stack GaG Mutations for Maximum Profit?

The highest possible mutation multiplier on a fruit is 47,950x, with the exception of Sunflower, where the highest possible multiplier is 56,300x (updated in Mega Summer Harvest). Understanding mutation stacking is crucial for maximizing profits. Here’s how the updated formula works:

Total Price = Fruit Constant × Mass² × Growth Mutation × (1 + Σ Mutations — Number of Mutations)

Important stacking rules:

  • Only one Growth Mutation (Gold OR Rainbow) can apply
  • Only one Temperature Mutation (Wet OR Chilled OR Frozen) can apply
  • Only one Heat Mutation (Burnt OR Cooked) can apply
  • Only one Summer Mutation (Verdant OR Sundried OR Paradisal) can apply
  • Sandy mutations combine: Sandy + Wet = Clay, Sandy + Burnt/Sundried = Ceramic
  • Amber can evolve but still stacks with other mutations
  • All other mutations stack freely!

My favorite stacking combination for regular farming is: Rainbow (50x) + Shocked (50x) + Pollinated (3x) + Frozen (10x) = 75,000x multiplier!

For the absolute maximum (requires perfect conditions): Rainbow + Shocked + Frozen + Celestial + Disco + Voidtouched + Aurora + Sundried + Bloodlit + Zombified + Pollinated + Choc + Moonlit + Fried + Cloudtouched + Wiltproof + Ceramic = 47,950x!

FAQs — People Also Ask

What are the new mutations in the Prehistoric update?

The Prehistoric update added Sandy (3.894x), Clay (10x from Sandy+Wet), Ceramic (30x from Sandy+Burnt/Sundried), and Amber (10x) mutations. Amber can also evolve into Ancientamber and Oldamber over time!

Can mutations decrease crop value?

No mutation in Grow a Garden will decrease the value of a crop. They can’t rot, wilt, wither, or fail, so there’s no way to make less than the base price on a crop, fruit, vegetable, or flower.

What’s the rarest mutation in Grow a Garden?

The rarest mutations are admin-exclusive events like Dawnbound (150x) and Voidtouched (135x). For regular players, Rainbow mutation at 0.1% chance is the rarest natural mutation.

How do I get the Amber mutation?

You can get Amber mutation by crafting the Amber Mutation Spray (costs 1 Cleaning Spray, 1 Dinosaur Egg, and 1M Sheckles) at the Prehistoric crafting station, or rarely from the Raptor pet.

Can you force mutations to happen?

While most mutations are random or weather-based, you can increase chances using pets (Dragonfly for Gold, Disco Bee for Disco, Raptor for Amber), tools (Star Caller for Celestial), mutation sprays, and staying online during weather events.

Do mutations work on all plants?

Most mutations work on all plants except Dawnbound (Sunflower only) and Ripe (Sugar Apple only). Some plants like multi-harvest crops are better for mutation farming.

How do I know if my crop is mutated?

You can see whether or not a Grow a Garden plant is mutated by hovering your mouse or reticle over the specific crop. Mutated crops also have distinct visual effects and show the mutation name in your inventory.

What happens if multiple mutations occur at once?

Yes, crops can become afflicted by multiple Grow a Garden mutations at once, combining the rewards. They stack multiplicatively following specific rules – some mutations like Sandy+Wet combine into Clay.
