Netflix has officially expanded its TV library with the addition of one of HBO Max’s highest-rated comedy shows. This comes four years after the Alia Shawkat-led dark comedy series had wrapped up its five-season run. Since then, it has maintained its approval rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.
What HBO Max show is now available on Netflix today?
As of today, all five seasons of HBO Max’s Search Party are now available to stream on Netflix. Besides Shawkat, the show also starred John Reynolds, John Early, Meredith Hagner, Brandon Michael Hall, Clare McNulty, and Ron Livingston. It also featured guest stars including Jay Duplass, Susan Sarandon, Busy Philipps, Chelsea Peretti, Jeff Goldblum, Kathy Griffin, and more.
The show was executive-produced and created by showrunners Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers, along with Michael Showalter. The comedy-drama centers around four best friends who get involved in a messy private investigation, semi-accidental murder, absurd cover-up, sensational trial, and an abduction. Before moving to HBO Max, the series was originally a TBS original for the first two seasons of its run.
“The disappearance of former college acquaintance Chantal leads several 20-somethings to get entangled in the mystery of how she went missing. Leading the search party is Dory, a lifelong doormat who works as a rich housewife’s assistant. Dory makes it her personal mission to find Chantal — and she’s bringing her friends into the investigation with her,” reads the synopsis. “Self-diagnosed narcissist Elliott, who puts his ego aside long enough to agree to help Dory, is particularly good at detective work. Bubbly actress Portia excels at chatting up suspects for information because of her desperate need to be in the spotlight. Sheltered-but-sweet doofus Drew has to grow a spine to help solve the mystery and save his deteriorating relationship with Dory. Dory’s ex-boyfriend Julian seeks the truth, regardless of who it hurts, because of his background as a journalist.”
