Plus how to get them

Like most gacha games, there’s a batch of free characters in Neverness to Everness that you can add to your roster in the first 10 hours or so with the game. Unlike other gacha games, Neverness to Everness gives you enough to form a full team, and most of them are actually quite good characters, too.
Below, we list all of Neverness to Everness’ free characters and how to get them.
Neverness to Everness free characters

The first free character is, obviously, the game’s protagonist, who can hold their own quite well in battle and has (rightly) ended up high on most early NtE tier lists. If you’ve played other gacha games, you might be used to the protagonist serving only a support role or being a less-than-stellar DPS, but don’t neglect the protagonist of Neverness to Everness.
Mint
Mint, an A-class character, joins automatically during your first mission. She’s a damage character with Anima as her element, and she works well with the protagonist, Haniel, Sakiri, and Skia, among others — primarily for setting up cycles, but also just as a decent sub-DPS.
Adler
Adler also joins early in the story. He’s an A-class survivor with Incantation as his element. He scales with defense, which makes him a bit harder to slot into most teams that rely on standard buff supports. However, he works well with Mint, Baicang, Jiuyuan, and Daffodil.
Haniel
Haniel is free for everyone thanks to Neverness to Everness reaching its pre-registration campaign goals, and you can get two more copies by:
- Progressing the main story
- Clearing level 10 of Beyond the Rails’ Fracture Circle
Haniel’s an A-class buff unit with Psyche who works as a support character increasing ally attack or even as the main damage dealer if you have a team that can trigger the Stain cycle. Try Haniel with Daffodil, Skia, Hathor, Fadia, Baicang, Aurelia, or Chiz.

Aurelia
Aurelia is free as part of a log-in drive, and you’ll obtain her after logging in to the game for three consecutive days. She’s an A-class Psyche character who fills the attack role like Mint, though she functions better as the party’s primary damage dealer since her rotation requires a lot of on-screen time. On the bright side, Haniel and the protagonist are two of her best teammates, though she also works well with Daffodil and Skia.
Chiz
Chiz, an S-class damage character with Cosmos as her element, is your reward for reaching Tycoon level 18. It’ll take a while to reach that point, but it’s worth the wait. She’s one of the best characters in Neverness to Everness’ launch version whose only downside is how much of a learning curve her kit comes with. The protagonist, Haniel, and Edgar are strong teammates for Chiz, though her premium options also include Jiuyuan, Hathor, and Nanally.
Free standard S-class character
Once you pull 50 times on Neverness to Everness’ standard banner, you can pick one free S-class (5-star) character from that banner. You’ll hit 50 pulls pretty quickly, as you end up with close to 30 by the time you complete the first mission and have access to the city map. Your choices are:
- Fadia
- Hathor
- Baicang
- Sakiri
- Daffodil
- Jiuyuan
