Helldivers 2 has been having performance issues on PC lately, but developer Arrowhead is well aware of the problems.
Helldivers 2 is still in the middle of its Meridian Singularity plot, but some of the updates Arrowhead has released have had a disastrous impact on the game’s performance on PC.
However, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani has taken to the game’s Discord server to address players’ concerns and assure them that fixes are on the way (reported by VG247).
A Variety Of Issues
Helldivers 2’s performance issues have been sticking around for a while, and fans have taken to the game’s Subreddit to vent their frustrations.
One lengthy post lists some of the known issues that have still not been resolved, such as desyncing, carried items returning to their spawn point after being dropped, audio balancing problems, broken line of sight mechanics for certain enemies, clipping through terrain, and more.
The result of all these problems is that the game has become virtually unplayable on certain PCs, especially older rigs, and players noticed that Arrowhead support, usually known for prompt responses to bug reports, had been unresponsive. With this acknowledgment from the CEO, however, hopefully players should see some fixes soon.
That being said, Arrowhead hasn’t had the best track record with fixing bugs, with their patches tending to introduce new problems of their own.
Jorjani has also acknowledged this track record with additions in the Discord server, saying, “The more we add in terms of content the tougher performance becomes, we then have to do a bit of housekeeping. Hopefully in the future we’ll be able to add content that has less impact.”
Speaking of content that has less impact, he also teased the return of some of last year’s Killzone crossover content to the SuperStore.
Arrowhead has weathered their fair share of controversy with Helldivers 2, and have their own ways of staying motivated.
Hopefully they’ll be able to deal with these issues on PC quickly and get it working for everyone again. Until then, though, maybe players will at least be able to have some fun with some of the bugs.
