Netflix has released the teaser trailer for Unchosen, an upcoming TV show about a cult starring Sex Education‘s Asa Butterfield.
“Rosie lives with her husband, Adam, and daughter in a cloistered Christian community,” the Netflix synopsis reads. “The fateful arrival of escaped prisoner Sam into her life reveals the reality and restraints of her world; perhaps this hidden religious community doesn’t have her best interests at heart. As cracks begin to appear in Rosie and Adam’s marriage, Sam presents himself as Rosie’s savior. But with his dark criminal past, where does the greatest danger lie — with the cult or with Sam?

What happens in the Unchosen teaser trailer?
Molly Windsor stars as Rosie, while Butterfield plays her husband, Adam. The married couple has a daughter and lives in a secluded religious community. Fra Free plays Sam, a runaway who shakes up Rosie’s life. As the footage reveals, the community is not as loving as it appears. Rosie’s physical and mental awakening threatens the religious sect, which will stoop to drastic measures to keep the illusion of peace.
Christopher Eccleston plays the religious leader, Mr. Phillips, with Siobhan Finneran as Mrs. Phillips.
“We are blessed to live our lives within this community, where love binds us and our families flourish, where our women nurture and our men provide, safe from the temptations of the world outside and from the evil that lies within,” Mr. Phillips says in the teaser.
Julie Gearey (Intergalactic) is the writer, creator, and executive producer of Unchosen. Nick Pitt is a producer, while Iona Vrolyk and Myar Craig-Brown serve as executive producers. Philippa Langdale and Jim Loach are the directors.
Unchosen does not have a release date. The end of the teaser features a “coming soon” tagline. Before Unchosen, the series was named Out of the Dust.
