When playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you are going to come across various systems that you might need to spend some extra time working towards understanding and using properly.

One system you’re going to find out early is the wanted system. Similar to how the older Assassin’s Creed games featuring Ezio had a wanted system, Shadows‘ does as well.

In this guide I’ll show you everything you need to know about the Wanted Level in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, how it works within the game, and what you need to do in order to be able to lower your wanted level and travel around Japan peacefully.

How The Wanted System Works

While playing the game, you are going to be asked to travel around feudal Japan and get into a lot of trouble. No matter what you’re up to, you’re going to have to work your way through the wanted system.

Whether you’re working on quests that have you using the various stealth mechanics to sneak around, or you’re working hard at infiltrating locations so that you can take out one of the many targets you’re required to kill, you are going to be causing quite a stir wherever you go.

During these moments of breaking the rules, if anyone catches you, your wanted level will increase. Once your level increases, you will have guards looking out for you, and they will attack you on sight. To make matters worse, you may come across enemies known as Guardians, who will kill you if the guards don’t.

One thing to remember is that if you are wanted as Yasuke in a region, you won’t be wanted as Naoe (unless, of course, you break the law as both characters). Additionally, just because you are wanted in one area doesn’t mean you’ll have a wanted level in another area. It is all dependent upon who you’re playing as and where you’re playing.

How To Lower Your Wanted Level

Lowering your wanted level is going to be crucial to continue playing without having to deal with a lot of headaches and difficulty.

Thankfully, there are two easy ways to effortlessly lower your wanted level in Asassin’s Creed Shadows:

  1. Use scouts
  2. Change the season

Use Scouts

One easy way to lower your wanted level is by using your scouts. One of the things that you can do with your scouts is use them to clear your Regional Alerts and Wanted Status, which means they will lower that level within specific areas. You will need a level 2 Kakurega for this.

Change The Season

The other way to lower your wanted level is by changing the season and waiting for the level to decrease naturally.

Changing the season can be done in one of two ways:

  1. Wait for it to pass
    • Each season will last around 140 to 180 minutes.
  2. Change it manually
    • When on the map screen, you will see the option to use the D-Pad to change the seasons.

Once the season changes, your wanted level will clear, scouts will reset, and merchants will restock.

Whatever way you choose, all three ways will reduce your Wanted Level in Assassin’s Creed Shadows so that you can continue your adventures as Naoe and Yasuke without drawing eyes and attention wherever you pass.
