Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to top the domestic box office chart once again. After debuting at No. 1 with the second-best opening weekend of the three Avatar movies, the latest installment in James Cameron’s epic sci-fi franchise held its position during its second and third weekends in spite of competition from major Christmas releases including Marty Supreme and Anaconda.
Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, Avatar: Fire and Ash is projected to earn a 3-day total between $21 and $24 million at the domestic box office by the end of its fourth weekend in theaters. This will be more than enough for it to take No. 1 for the fourth weekend in a row.
In doing so, 2025’s Avatar: The Way of Water s in the footsteps of both of its predecessors. 2009’s Avatar and 2022’s The Way of Water remained No. 1 at the domestic box office for seven straight weekends.
Fire and Ash has managed to top the chart in spite of competition from two incoming new releases, which are the first major wide releases of 2026. Those titles would be Paramount’s new killer chimpanzee thriller Primate and the Gerard Butler-led post-apocalyptic thriller Greenland 2: Migration.
