Avengers: Doomsday's New Trailer Shows The Start Of The End Of The MCU

Add Us On Here is a fact-based summary of the story contents:

The final of four planned Avengers: Doomsday trailers has now been released in theaters, and it features a key reveal that signals the start of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. Avengers: Doomsday‘s story is still a mystery at this point. Sure, the cast of the next Avengers movie includes several superhero teams and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

However, aside from that, we have no real knowledge of what Doctor Doom’s plan is or how the many multiverse heroes and main MCU players will fit in together. That is why I’m glad Marvel made the choices it has with the final of the four teasers for the upcoming MCU movie, as we now have a formal tease that the end of the MCU is near.

Marvel's New Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Sets Up A Huge Problem

After trailers focused on Steve Rogers, Thor, and the X-Men, the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer focuses on the Fantastic Four and the Wakandans. It shows the first meeting between those two teams, as M’Baku greets The Thing, but while that moment was exciting, it was not the part of the trailer that caught my attention. That was saved for an antagonist.

After debuting in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor returns in the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer. Marvel brings along a few reveals as Namor shows up, including the fact that Namora is back and Namor will wear his blue suit with a tall collar from Marvel Comics. However, the biggest reveal is that Talokan appears to have had all of its water evaporated or drained.

Namor is seen sitting on his throne as he and the Talokanil stare in disbelief at a giant desert. I’m convinced that the best explanation for that event is that an Incursion is threatening the MCU’s main Earth. As Earth-616 prepares to collide with one from another universe, elements like Talokan’s water could be pulled into the mix.

Why Incursions Should Lead To The End Of The MCU (As We Know It)

An Incursion that does something like that to Talokan could be the first sign of the multiverse collapse that is expected to happen in the next Avengers movie. In the 2015 Secret Wars event from Marvel Comics, Doctor Doom got reality-altering powers and used them to create Battleworld, which pulled characters from all over the multiverse into a planet made of different worlds.

With Avengers: Secret Wars confirmed to serve as a reboot of sorts for the MCU, the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer might just be setting up the event that starts the journey towards said reboot. If Talokan is at risk, it might make Namor even side with Doctor Doom, as he has before in the comics, and make Avengers: Doomsday‘s story even more unpredictable.
