Uncle Baby Billy’s ending in The Righteous Gemstones series finale was great, but it left out one of his biggest character developments from season 2. Baby Billy, played by Walton Goggins, has come a long way from trying to make a break for it with his brother-in-law Eli Gemstone’s stolen money in season 1. Throughout all four seasons of The Righteous Gemstones, Baby Billy has been up to some sort of money-making scheme, often looking to three adult Gemstones kids – Jesse, Kelvin, and Judy – for financial assistance. His «Bible Bonkers» game show from season 3 became one of his more popular prospects.
Baby Billy’s personal life was also examined throughout the series before The Righteous Gemstones series finale. During The Righteous Gemstones season 1’s «Interlude» episode, it was revealed that Baby Billy had a son named Harmon. In The Righteous Gemstones season 2, Harmon was revised and takes on a much bigger role as Baby Billy’s estranged son, whom he had abandoned. This shocks and upsets his new romantic partner, Tiffany, and sends Baby Billy down a path of redemption. Even though Harmon became a pivotal character in The Righteous Gemstones season 2, he was cut out of the picture in the last two seasons.

He Had A Perfect Opportunity To Reappear At Kelvin & Keefe's Wedding
Baby Billy’s character arc throughout the series was all about redeeming himself as a father and finally choosing to prioritize his family. Despite this, there is no mention of Harmon, his son, whom he abandoned back in 199,3 and was played by Macaulay Culkin in The Righteous Gemstones season 2. Even though there have already been past and present versions of Harmon established in earlier seasons of The Righteous Gemstones, his character was essentially abandoned. Harmon’s return would have made sense at some point in seasons 3 and 4, especially at Kelvin and Keefe’s series finale wedding.
Having Harmon return for just a brief moment in The Righteous Gemstones season 4 ending would have been a meaningful touch. It would have given a subtle yet profound sense of closure for Baby Billy and cemented his status as a redeemed father at the last possible moment. Baby Billy has previously claimed he wanted to be a good dad, so having Harmon around at the end of his road to redemption would have made his ending even better.

It’s unknown whether The Righteous Gemstones’ production team tried to secure Culkin for a brief cameo or if he was available for the finale shoot. Either way, it feels like a missed opportunity.

He Claims He Wants To Focus On His Family But Who Knows How Long That'll Last
After officially choosing his wife and kids in the finale, Baby Billy also has more time to focus on his other neglected relationships, like with Harmon. In Baby Billy’s defense, Harmon wasn’t exactly thrilled to see him after all those years in season 2 during their awkward reunion. Harmon was able to offer Baby Billy a sense of forgiveness, but that didn’t necessarily come with any strings attached or expectations for Baby Billy to suddenly start acting like Harmon’s father again. Still, Harmon is Baby Billy’s son, so if he truly wants to focus on his family, he can’t completely cut Harmon out.
Overall, Baby Billy was a beloved character in The Righteous Gemstones who often provided some of the funniest moments. Even though there is the flaw of leaving Harmon out of the finale, Baby Billy will be celebrated for all of his hilarious religious-themed entertainment ventures, particularly in his season 4 project, Teenjus. Even though Baby Billy claims to trade a life of showbiz for a family life in The Righteous Gemstones finale, odds are that he will come up with a new idea that he won’t be able to resist, since after all, he is a true entertainer.
