Baldur’s Gate 3’s final Patch 8 update is just days away from release

Looking for another reason to revisit Baldur’s Gate 3? Then wait no longer, because developer Larian Studios has shared the release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 and it’s just days away! Having been stress tested, the patch – which promises some seriously significant changes – drops this April 15th.

That’s right, you’ve just got three days to come up with a reason why you need to call in sick for two weeks. Granted, Easter is on the 20th so, with Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday, that’ll be a four day weekend for some. But Baldur’s Gate 3 is a meaty, meaty RPG so the more time you, er, book off, the better.

So just what’s changing with Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8? Larian Studios is streaming a deep dive into the new patch, which will be taking place on Twitch on April 16th. However, one of the biggest changes is the addition of twelve new subclasses. Those new classes don’t, sadly, include ‘Necrodancer’, but you can at least murder people with bees.

On top of that, the patch will add in crossplay and a photo mode. It’s the latter that’s got us grinning, and not for its potential for producing smut, honest. Baldur’s Gate 3 features some amazing locations and some downright horrifying scenes, which we’re itching to capture. Take the Mind Flayer transformation in the opening area, for example – disturbing as that is, just imagine how much nastier it’ll be close up. At least, that’s assuming the photo mode doesn’t lock the camera during cutscenes, but if it does, you can bet there’ll be a mod to fix that.

There may be a few other changes too; it’s been reported, for example, that the patch will add in two additional evil endings. Just ripping your tadpole out sounds unbelievably badass, so you can bet we’re going to give that option a try.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 arrives this April 15 and, from what Larian has said, it should hit all platforms the same day. And if you’ve yet to play Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It’s also currently 20% off on Steam.
