Bandai Namco has announced a brand-new RPG, with the mystery project being revealed during a dedicated video presentation.
The publisher announced the reveal on March 3, with a presentation coming at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm GMT on March 5. Bandai Namco also shared a short teaser with a first glimpse of the setting.
A brief 20-second clip shows a peaceful fantasy landscape, with a character walking through a grassy environment with a sword and shield on their back. A large tower can also be seen in the distance, with the post stating: “A serenity soon to be disturbed.”
Bandai Namco has not confirmed any additional details about the project, including its title, platforms, or release window. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about what the mystery RPG could be.
Fans convinced new SAO or Tales game in the works
Some viewers believe the teaser could be linked to the Sword Art Online franchise, pointing to similarities between the tower shown in the clip and the massive structure featured in the series.
“Might be going crazy, but the tower-like structure in the first scene looks like the towers from Aincrad in Sword Art Online. Will we finally get that fabled SAO RPG, that’s actually a great game?” one fan wrote.

Others think the reveal could mark the return of the long-running Tales series, which last received a mainline entry with Tales of Arise in 2021.
“Most likely the next Tales Of, considering the simple texturing on the character model, and the very anime-y heater shield. Bandai Namco Studios has stated that they’re also working on a proprietary engine, and such a game could mark that engine’s debut,” another fan speculated.
For now, Bandai Namco is keeping the project under wraps, but with the reveal scheduled for March 5, fans won’t have long to wait.
