Barry Keoghan revealed that he died “for a few seconds” while dealing with drug and alcohol addiction, which led him to go to rehab three times.
The star has made plenty of headlines in the last few years thanks to his controversial role in Saltburn, his relationship with Sabrina Carpenter, and his upcoming role as Ringo Starr in The Beatles movies.
He also played Tommy Shelby’s son in the Peaky Blinders film, which led him to clarify exactly how to pronounce his last name after some fans got confused about it.
Now, Keoghan has spoken freely about how he technically died “for a few seconds” while having issues with drug and alcohol addiction over two years ago.

Keoghan opened up about his experience on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast with Lil Dicky and Benny Blanco, explaining that he’s now “allergic” to alcohol and chose to stop drinking because his next step was to take cocaine. The star then got sober after a haunting near-death experience, where claims he had a vision of being attacked.
Keoghan explains: “It was, um… it happened in London and you know – I went for a few seconds, and there was this this sort of image the fields and it was the wind, but there was this girl walking away.
The actor adds that when he called out to the girl she wouldn’t turn around, and then he was attacked by “loads of lads stabbing me and trying to push me over.”
“Obviously [that] was the doctors doing the work on me, you know, is what I was feeling. But in this vision, they were they were stabbing me and pushing me and I was holding on to them,” he continued.

“They were trying to push me over to this side. And I swear I – you know – I was begging them that I could stay. I was like, ‘Please let me stay.’ And they were like, ‘All right, let them stay.'”
The star explained that he was the same age as his mother was when she died when he decided to go sober, and he went to rehab three times as a result.
“I’m clean now, I’ve been clean for two and a half years. My mom died at 32 of heroin, my dad passed away. But the curiosity of still wanting to do this for me, it took me three attempts of rehab,” he told the hosts. “There was a sudden switch, and it was when I was 32, same age as my mom. I was like, that’s it, I am not doing it.”
“I’m at peace now, and responsible for everything that I do. I’m accepting. I’m present. I’m content. I’m a father. I’m getting to just see that haze that was once there – it’s just a bit sharper now, and colourful.”
