In a new twist, Batman‘s family just got a little bigger, with the strongest hero ever connected to the Dark Knight’s expansive brood. However, this new powerhouse doesn’t come from the Wayne line, but from a darker branch of the family tree…
DC Introduces New Trans Hero Featherweight
Ra's al Ghul's Granddaughter Officially Debuts

The recently concluded Cheetah and Chesire Rob the Justice League (from Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott, Annette Kwok, Troy Peteri and more) introduced new hero Featherweight (real name Alya Raatko). Possessing enhanced durability and superstrength, Featherweight is recruited by the title characters in their attempt to run a heist on the Justice League.

Alya is the daughter of Nyssa al Ghul — one of the daughters of Ra’s al Ghul — and is the first cousin of Batman’s son Damian (and likewise Respawn, the clone son of Deathstroke and Talia al Ghul.) Featherweight’s codename is a reference to her small stature, which belies incredible superstrength.
A trans and bisexual hero, Featherweight travels the world fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, planning to use her portion of the score to continue her mission. Featherweight is the latest trans hero in DC comics, joining recent additions to comics lore such as Circuit Breaker and Dreamer.
How Strong Is Featherweight?

In Cheetah and Chesire Rob the Justice League #6, Featherweight squares off against Solomon Grundy over ownership of a device stolen from the League. Not only does Featherweight equal Grundy’s strength, she does so with one hand, causing the villain to tumble backwards when she eventually lets go.

Grundy’s strength is enough to rend steel and toss around cars, and he’s even equaled Superman in the past, making Featherweight one of the strongest characters in DC lore.
What's Next for New DC Hero Featherweight?

Since she was only introduced in this story, Featherweight hasn’t had much interaction with Batman yet outside of burgling the Justice League. However, as of Cheetah and Cheshire… she’s now a permanent part of the DC Universe, and is likely to run into her cousin Robin sooner rather than later.

Having a son with Talia al Ghul has permanently tied Batman to one of the most expansive villain dynasties in DC lore. Indeed, there are now enough grandchildren of Ra’s al Ghul to start their own team — hopefully an idea that Batman lore will run with in the near future.
Cheetah and Chesire Rob the Justice League #1-6 are available now from DC Comics.
