The wait is almost over. For fans of the gritty, anthropomorphic drama that has redefined adult animation, the finish line is in sight. With Netflix officially setting the release date for BEASTARS Final Season Part 2 for March 7, 2026, the hype is reaching a fever pitch. But let’s be honest. It has been a while since Part 1 (also known as Season 3) dropped in 2024.
Paru Itagaki had to hide her real identity as the daughter of Keisuke Itagaki, who is the creator behind BAKI, when she released BEASTARS a decade ago. But that’s a story for another time. We are here to talk about her manga-turned-anime, which arrives as an underrated gem but gains popularity over time. When you binged the first half of the final season, you must have felt your heart drop through the floor. Well, you’re not alone.
The closing episodes of BEASTARS Part 1 end on a gut-punch of a cliffhanger that rewrites the stakes for every main character. It was a whirlwind of social commentary, bone-chilling villainy, and deep personal transformation.
The Rise of the Sublime BEASTARS and the Hunt for Melon

By the end of Part 1, our central grey wolf, Legoshi, has retreated from his old life after the trauma and moral mess left behind in earlier seasons. He’s been trying to stay away from public life. So, he starts working, avoiding friends, and wrestling with what fans call a “meat hangover” after events that traumatized him in Season 2.
Part 1 also took us far away from the familiar hallways of Cherryton Academy as Legoshi made the radical choice to drop out of school. He moved into the “Hidden Condo,” a run-down apartment complex where he could live among adults and try to find his place in a world that fears his kind.
This shift changed the entire tone of the show. BEASTARS became a noir-inspired exploration of a broken society. Legoshi spent much of Part 1 trying to navigate his “meat-withdrawal” symptoms while maintaining his relationship with Haru, which remained as complicated as ever.
In Season 2, Legoshi ended up eating Louis’ leg, and the guilt of his “meat craving” forced Legoshi to withdraw from society. Meanwhile, Louis went back to his family and was thrust into the role of being an heir and getting married, even before he could heal himself. In the meantime, Legoshi can’t stop himself from hunting Melon, as he believes that he could reach an understanding with the hybrid criminal.
For the unversed, Melon is a hybrid born of a gazelle mother and a leopard father. He is a walking contradiction. He represents everything the society of BEASTARS fears. He is a creature that shouldn’t exist, who feels no empathy and cannot taste anything except the blood of his victims.
What Happened to Haru?

Haru, the white dwarf rabbit who remains the heart of the show, is alive and safe at the end of BEASTARS Final Season Part 1, but her storyline is mostly on the sidelines. She’s accepted into the University and is not physically harmed during Part 1. Her relationship with Legoshi is complicated as she remains connected to Legoshi. But much of Part 1 focuses on his withdrawal and trauma, which pushes Haru into a quieter, supporting place rather than the central emotional engine she once was.
Now, Melon and the underworld fallout create a threat that casts a shadow over Haru’s future (even if she isn’t attacked in Part 1). That tension is part of why viewers worry for her safety going into Part 2. While Legoshi is busy playing detective, Haru finds herself in a terrifying predicament. In a moment of existential crisis, Haru met Melon.
Unaware of his true nature at first, she ended up making a bizarre and chilling “promise” to him. So, the same criminal gets fascinated by Haru’s lack of fear, essentially marking her as his future “meal.” This left fans on the edge of their seats, as Haru is now directly in the crosshairs of a serial killer who views her as a delicacy rather than a person.
Furthermore, when the series sidelines her physically, it raises the tension in another way: Can Legoshi protect the people he loves? And if he can’t, how does that reshape the moral geography of the show?
Why Legoshi’s Sacrifice Sets the Stage for the PART 2 Finale

The ending of Part 1 focused heavily on the introduction of Yahya, the current “Sublime Beastar.” Yahya is a horse with a massive ego and a dark sense of justice. He views the world in black and white, and he initially sees Legoshi as nothing more than a dangerous predator. However, Yahya needs Legoshi’s nose.
The two form an uneasy, high-stakes alliance to track down the series’ most dangerous antagonist yet. The climax of Part 1 was a masterclass in tension. Legoshi follows leads tied to Melon and walks straight into a trap. Melon captures him, ties him to a weighted chair, and then throws him off a cliff. The final shot leaves his fate uncertain as we see him fall, and the screen cuts away.
The final trailer released by Netflix has confirmed that Part 2 will be the “Revenge of the Love Failure” arc. On March 7, 2026, we will see the final resolution of the conflict between Legoshi and Melon. The upcoming episodes will feature a full-scale riot in the Black Market and a deep dive into Melon’s tragic, twisted upbringing. Most importantly, we will finally see if a wolf and a rabbit can actually find a happy ending in a world designed to keep them apart.
