‘Biden Was In Office When the Cheating Was Happening’: Sen. Elizabeth Warren Faces Pushback After Criticizing Trump on Egg Price Settlement

Who’s right?

Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts posted on X criticizing a recent $3.3 million settlement between the Justice Department, state attorneys general, and major egg producers over alleged price collusion, describing the penalty as measly given one company’s reported profits. The post quickly drew strong reactions online, with many commenters pointing to the timeline of the alleged conduct and current egg prices while others debated the settlement’s adequacy.

The video shows Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren in an office setting. It includes a CNBC report segment stating that U.S. antitrust enforcers are accusing three large egg producers of coordinating their bids, with the anchor noting that Elizabeth Warren “may be right” about that part. Warren is then shown looking at her phone, laughing, and saying, “You can just say it, I was right,” as she asks questions about inflated prices in the egg market.

Speaking directly to the camera, she continues that two years ago egg prices were soaring and the biggest egg producers blamed the hikes on bird flu, “at the same time these giant companies were still raking in record profits,” so she pushed the Justice Department to investigate whether the companies were manipulating the market. She adds that the Justice Department did investigate and “ended up accusing three major egg producers of doing exactly that.”

The post text states that egg producers “got caught colluding to inflate prices, and Trump let them off with a measly $3.3 million fine,” noting one company’s $1.2 billion profit the prior year and adding that “Big corporations cheat, and Trump lets them off the hook.” The video itself does not show the underlying investigation details or any company responses, and the settlement’s additional requirements, such as egg donations, are not addressed in the clip.

Viewer Reactions to Sen. Warren’s Remarks on Egg Producers

Many focused on the timeline of the alleged collusion. One commenter wrote, “Biden Was In Office When The ‘Cheating’ Was Actually Happening???? And a Dozen Eggs Were $4.95 when Biden Left… Jan 2025 Today’s Price July 26th 2026 $1.49!!!!!!”

Another added, “Egg prices saw their largest single-year increase in 2022. The President of the United States in 2022 was Joseph R. Biden.”

Some replies pointed to the details of the settlement itself. One user noted, “The DOJ and 17 state attorneys general secured a $3.3M settlement with egg producers over alleged 2022–2025 price-fixing. On top of the fine, the companies are legally mandated to donate 53 million physical eggs to local food banks and establish permanent, court-monitored antitrust compliance programs.”

Others directed criticism at Warren and her party. One wrote, “Your party LET IT HAPPEN. YOU LET THE EGG PRICES GO UP TO COMPLAIN ABOUT TRUMP! It’s on YOU! Not Trump.”

Another said, “What the scut Lizzy is leaving out is that the collusion occurred under Autopen Biden’s regime and they NEVER caught it! INCOMPETENCE!”

Warren’s video has become part of the broader online discussion surrounding the recent egg producers settlement and ongoing questions about food prices and antitrust enforcement.
