Billie Eilish won Song of the Year at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, along with her brother Finneas O’Connell, for Wildflower. However, more than her win, people are talking about her acceptance speech and the apparent hypocrisy hidden behind it.

Wearing an “ICE OUT” pin, Eilish took the stage to state, “No one is illegal on stolen land” before adding,

It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now. And I just feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter, and the people matter. F*ck ICE is all I want to say. Sorry.

While the crowd cheered at Eilish’s controversial comment, not everyone was happy about it. The singer has since received a ton of backlash, with people calling her out. Conservative podcaster Emily Austin was also present in the audience, who later uploaded a video of herself ridiculing Eilish.

Apart from those who don’t agree with Eilish, others called her out for hypocrisy, particularly the Tongva Tribe indigenous to the Los Angeles Basin. In a statement to Fox News, confirming her home was built on “ancestral land.”

The statement is as follows:

As the First People of the greater Los Angeles basin, we do understand that her home is situated in our ancestral land. Eilish has not contacted our tribe directly regarding her property, we do value the instance when Public Figures provide visibility to the true history of this country.

They added that while they appreciate Eilish’s comments, they hope that the tribe can be “explicitly referenced” in future discussions to ensure that people understand that “the greater Los Angeles basin remains Gabrieleno Tongva territory.”

The backlash soon moved from social media and news channels to real life when GB News’ journalist Ben Leo took matters into his own hands and walked up to the gates of Billie Eilish’s LA mansion worth $3 million, looking to get in.

He stood outside the massive black gates, stating, “Let us in, Billie. We are here because this is stolen land, and we think we should be given access to your quite lovely $3 million mansion.

Leo went on to comment on Eilish’s anti-ICE statement, adding, “Hopefully, if she sticks by her merits, she will have no problem with me waltzing in, maybe making a cup of coffee, or tea.

Netizens applauded Leo’s experiment in the replies, trolling Eilish and claiming that she needs to let people into her private property, solely based on her comments at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

As if this wasn’t enough, a 26-year-old Australian, Drew Pavlou, started his own GoFundMe to move into Billie Eilish’s lavish home. Once titled “Move Into Billie Eilish’s Mansion Fundraiser,” it has now been taken down from the website, but only after it generated about $3,000.

Talking to Sky News, Pavlou revealed that he has created a new fundraiser, before admitting that he does not plan on doing anything illegal once he gets to Eilish’s home.

He said,

I’m not planning on doing anything illegal. I will just sit outside her house until somebody asks me to leave. I think it would be important to test this theory that nobody is illegal on stolen land…

This isn’t Pavlou’s first rodeo either. He did the same thing before with New York City’s newly-elected mayor, Zohran Mamdani. The video captioned, “call on Zohran Mamdani to tear down the fascist border wall surrounding his residence at Gracie Mansion,” can be found on his Instagram, which currently has 63K followers.

Pavlou’s GiveSendGo has generated AUD $4,241 (approx. USD $2983) as of this writing. He aims to raise at least AUD $6,000 (approx. USD $4220).
