Warzone has officially revealed the new Black Ops Royale mode, and just like Blackout before it, it’s going to be tough to hit shots from across the map.
This new experience is arriving in Season 2 Reloaded and will be heavily inspired by Black Ops 4’s Blackout — Call of Duty’s first attempt at a battle royale. It’s set to take place on a refreshed version of the Avalon map and feature exclusively BO7 weapons.
It also appears to be much less forgiving than traditional Warzone, as there are no custom loadouts and the Gulag is gone. But that’s not all, as the devs also revealed that gunfights themselves are going to have an extra layer of challenge about them.
Black Ops Royale set to increase bullet drop
When the mode was announced, Treyarch revealed that Black Ops Royale will use an “all-new ballistics system” similar to the one seen in Blackout, where bullet drop will be more noticeable. This means that when taking on enemies over long distances, you’ll need to account more for how far away they are and lead your shots accordingly.
Bullet drop is nothing new in Call of Duty, as snipers often have to aim slightly above their targets to land headshots, but the new mode will crank it up even further.
Black Ops Royale also introduces an all-new ballistics system to Call of Duty: Warzone, with bullet drop playing a major role similar to the Blackout days.

But don’t worry, the official blog also revealed that bullet drop will decrease and bullet velocity will increase depending on the rarity of your weapons. Sniper Rifles will be buffed at the Uncommon and Epic tiers, while other classes will be improved at the Rare and Legendary levels.

So, if you’re someone who prefers to sit back and pick off enemies from a distance, it’ll be vital for you to use top-tier weapons. This can be done by simply finding them on the map or upgrading a low-level gun using Attachment Kits.
We’ll have to wait for March 12 to see exactly how drastic the changes are, but on paper, this sounds like it will drastically increase the skill gap in every fight. In the meantime, check out everything else coming in the Warzone Season 2 Reloaded update.
