Blackpink star Lisa is expanding her acting career after making her debut on HBO’s anthology series, The White Lotus Season 3. The K-pop star will now be joining hands with Netflix for a brand new romantic comedy inspired by Julia Roberts’ Notting Hill, as Deadline reports.
For those unaware, Notting Hill is one of the best romantic comedies. The 1999 classic starred Roberts as a famed American actress opposite British heartthrob Hugh Grant, a regular guy and a bookstore owner.
What is Blackpink Star Lisa’s Latest Netflix Project About?

Lisa, the talented Thai rapper, singer, dancer, and now actor, is once again collaborating with The White Lotus executive producer, David Bernad, for the unnamed Netflix rom-com. The two reportedly bonded on the sets of the HBO show over the Julia Roberts-starrer 1999 rom-com.
Unfortunately, the details of the show are being kept under wraps, but Lisa and Bernad reportedly developed the project’s premise while working together on The White Lotus.
Netflix has roped in Set It Up and Booksmart famed Katie Silberman to write the script. Bernad will also produce through his Middle Child Productions banner, alongside Silberman, while Alice Kang and Lisa will serve as executive producers.
As for other details, such as cast or release window, Netflix has yet to reveal them.
Blackpink’s Lisa to Star in Netflix’s Extraction Universe

The upcoming untitled Netflix rom-com is not Lisa’s only project on the platform. Last year in December, it was announced that the Blackpink star will be joining the Extraction universe for its Korean language spin-off, titled TYGO (via Tudum).
Following her casting announcement, the singer stated:
I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors. Being in an action film has always been a dream of mine, and for my first movie role to be in such an exciting action film is a dream come true.
The K-pop star will star alongside Eternals and Train to Busan famed Don Lee and Squid Game and Sweet Home star Lee Jin-uk. The film follows a former child soldier turned mercenary called Tygo, who is desperate to get revenge on Korea’s underworld after a previous mission ended in disaster.
The project has been in development for quite some time and will be produced by Big Punch Pictures and AGBO, with co-productions by Nova Film and B&C Content. Famed South Korean director Lee Sang-yong will handle directing duties.
As for a release date and more, Netflix has yet to reveal them.
