California Parents Slam Sharon Stone Over Demands to Make Scandalous TV Show Required Viewing for Teens ‘Liberals are perverts’

Not for my kids

Hollywood actress Sharon Stone has caused a massive set of adult tantrums among California parents after publicly declaring that HBO’s highly controversial, explicit teen drama Euphoria should be mandatory viewing in American high schools. As you can imagine, this didn’t go over well with Conservative parents, as the show is known for its explicit drug use and adult behaviors.

In a post shared to Reddit by MadameCassie and also reported by New York Post, amongst others, the veteran California actress dropped a fiery quote on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, in which she stated.

Euphoria’ is so relevant, I believe it should be shown in every high school, and I think all the parents should have to see it. As a mom, I love it.

The backlash from parental rights groups and conservative advocacy circles across California was immediate and fierce. Opponents point out that the Emmy-winning series, starring Zendaya, is notorious for its graphic depictions of teenage drug addiction, hyper-sexuality, and severe psychological trauma. The type of content many argue is entirely inappropriate for minors, let alone a classroom setting. Here are some of the things these folks had to say.

“Liberals are perverts”

“No, because shows like this encourage this behavior. Human beings see things on TV, and subconsciously it affects their behavior.”

“She would say that. That show is a horrible influence on teens. I just said no way are you watching that trash.”

“Bet she thought 16 & Pregnant and Teen Moms were great ideas too”

“I think Sharon Stone was playing herself in American horror story…That woman is an absolute psychopath.”

While the vocal minority of defenders argue the show offers a raw, cautionary look at modern struggles with mental health and substance abuse, the overwhelming consensus from local parental groups remains clear. Conservatives are already calling on California school boards to explicitly reject any future curriculum additions that include adult-rated television. However, the state they live in might clash with their ideals on a fundamental level. Sharon Stone isn’t winning over new fans with her sentiment; that’s for sure.
