This year’s Call of Duty game was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase over the weekend, where Xbox boss Phil Spencer unveiled Black Ops 7. This marks the first time in history, since Call of Duty adopted a yearly release schedule, that the same studio will be releasing back-to-back games.
If you’re a fan of the Black Ops series, you’re probably already looking forward to the release. For those who pre-order the first-person shooter every year, you’ll be able to do that for BO7 very soon.
How soon? Try starting next week — at least according to some users online.
Black Ops 7 Pre-Orders Kicking Off Next Week
The info comes from Call of Duty content creator Charlie Intel, who shared that posters are included with the pre-orders that are starting on June 20.
Activision hasn’t said anything yet so this date could be inaccurate. Chances are, the pre-order bonuses include early access to the beta, which has been the case for the past few years.
The bigger question here is: how much would the game be? With The Outer Worlds 2 now priced at $80 across all platforms, will Microsoft push this price for Call of Duty? For Xbox gamers, this most likely won’t be an issue given it’ll be released day-one on Game Pass, but for the rest of us? Yes, it will sting if gaming’s biggest multiplayer shooter franchise raises its price.
Details on Black Ops 7 are scarce outside of Activision’s press release, stating, «In Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7, Treyarch and Raven Software are bringing players the most mind-bending Black Ops ever. The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of the fan-favorite titles Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Wielding cutting-edge technology, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.»
Based on the statement, we can expect futuristic weaponry, and chances are, that involves advanced movement too. Hopefully, the publisher dials back the craziness of the skins, but we all know that won’t happen (one can hope).
Black Ops 7 has no release date yet, but if history is any indication, it should be out in the last week of October or the first week of November. For reference, Black Ops 6 was released on October 25, 2024, which was a Friday. Expect more details about the game to be revealed in the coming months.
