Catan Studios has announced a new strategic partnership. The company behind the most popular resource-gathering board game is now a partner of the NBA team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, This marks the first time the studio has partnered with a sports team.

According to the press release, the Catan Minnesota Timberwolves partnership will introduce «interactive concourse activations» at certain Timberwolves home games during the current season. These events will allow sports fans to try out the Catan game and challenge themselves against friends. Better still, these events will include exclusive prizes.

In addition, Catan Studio and the Minnesota Timberwolves will collaborate on community events and initiatives. This will include participation in Timberwolves community outreach programs, promoting the positive local impact of the tabletop hobby.

The Catan Minnesota Timberwolves partnership will include several giveaways across social media. This includes prize packs, a Catan-themed Timberwolves jersey, and two tickets to the November 14 game. This partnership is the latest in Catan Studio reaching out beyond the tabletop space. This includes signing a deal with Netflix for the TV and Film rights for the Catan game, and subsidiary Asmodee’s branch into crowdfunding with the acquisition of Cthulhu: Death May Die.
