The first act of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has a surprising number of side quests to partake in, in a more traditional sense. These are quests where an NPC will ask you to obtain an item somewhere in the world and bring it back. These side quests change a little bit in the second and third acts to more obscure side quests than something that is a direct quest from an NPC, and Hexga’s is one of the final ones you can come across in this format.
Should You Help Hexga?
In short, whether you help Hexga won’t impact the overall experience, but you will miss out on a fairly strong Picto, at least early on. Because Hexga actually doesn’t attack you unless you attack him first, it’s advised to aid him in his journey.
If, in the end, you don’t like the way he’s staring at you or just have a need for violence against Nevrons, you can turn on him after finishing his quest. His quest in general is fairly easy to complete, as well, although it does require a bit of traversal in darkness, and a couple of fights, as well, some of which are mandatory.
Finding Hexga’s Rocks
The main goal of Hexga’s quest is finding three “lustrous” rocks. He will even give you a hint that they are located in the cave next to him, which conveniently is where you’re supposed to go to progress the main story. This will be the smallest of detours, as finding all three, while not the hardest of tasks, does require a little bit of scouring.
Rock #1
The first rock is located very close to the first rope you descend. After descending, you will notice a large crystalized monster pacing around on a slanted pathway. Take him down and then look immediately to the left to find the first crystalized rock.
Rock #2
Back track a little bit and instead of going up the pathway where you face the crystalized rock monster, head to the right. There will be a deviating path to the left and right. The right will lead to another descending rope to a manor door, and up to the left is another enemy which is guarding the second rock.
Rock #3
Remember that intersecting pathway down to the manor door? Time to go back there. There will be a crystal guarding it, but it looks a little different. This one is more muted in its color. Approaching it will reveal that it’s an enemy in disguise. Take down this singular Rocher, and as a reward it will drop the third and final rock.
All that you need to do now is return to Hexga and retrieve your reward.
