Unlike other Soulslikes, where the ability to parry is available right from the start of the game, players will need to unlock it in Code Vein 2. The ability to parry is tied to Defensive Forma, a category of equipment that allows your character to utilize defensive strategies. Defensive Forma can be extremely helpful against challenging bosses, especially in the mid-to-late game.
Having a Defensive Forma with parry attached to it will allow you to deflect almost all attacks, except for some magic-based and charged attacks made by challenging bosses. However, from my experience, almost all attacks can be parried if you get the timing down perfectly. Luckily, Code Vein 2 has a forgiving parry window, unlike other games with the parry mechanic.

If you’re looking to unlock parry as soon as possible in Code Vein 2, we have you covered. Read further to learn about the fastest way to unlock Parry in Code Vein 2.
How to Unlock Parry in Code Vein 2

When players first start out in Code Vein 2, they are partnered up with Noah and sent on a quest to reach MagMell, a location that will act as a home base for the entire game. This location is pretty easy to reach, considering the game places a waypoint marker on the map. Players can unlock Parry upon reaching MagMell. However, it is very easy to miss.
To unlock the ability to parry, players need to speak to Jadwiga’s Minion in MagMell. This minion is located in the room that allows you to upgrade weapons, Jails, extract Boosters, and complete transformations. Jadwiga’s Minion is located in the corner of the room (map attached below), and after speaking to him, he will hand over the Mutinous Bracer. This is the first Defensive Forma that allows players to parry.

Keep in mind that as you progress further in Code Vein 2, you will unlock different Defensive Forma that has stronger versions of the parry. Make sure to search every nook and cranny of every dungeon so you don’t miss any chests that may contain a Defensive Forma.
Mutinous Bracer Explained

The Mutinous Bracer falls under the Parry category for Defensive Forma. By default, the Mutinous Bracer comes with a Balance of 18 and a Guard of 30. It consumes 2 Ichor Consumption per use.
Not only does the Mutinous Bracer allow players to deflect enemy attacks, but perfectly timing it will also break the stance of the enemy. This leaves the enemy vulnerable for a short duration, allowing the player to get a handful of free attacks in and deal some serious damage.

Successful parries always consume Ichor, and when you have Ichor to spare, you won’t take any damage. However, if you land a successful parry without any Ichor, you will still break the enemy’s stance, but your character will take damage as a result.

As mentioned earlier, not all attacks can be parried. If you use the Mutinous Bracer on attacks that cannot be parried, the Mutinous Bracer will block instead. It’s recommended to dodge attacks that can’t be parried rather than using the bracer, as dodging will save you from losing health.
When you run out of Ichor for the Mutinous Bracer, you can get more back by landing melee attacks and performing Drain Attacks with your Jail. You will gather the most amount of Ichor by holding down the Jail button and releasing it when a red circle appears on your character.
