Code Vein 2 is just a few weeks away from release and to whet your appetite for this vampiric Soulslike, Bandai Namco has unveiled one of the game’s bosses, complete with an appropriately lengthy name; The Blinded Resurgence Offspring.
Granted, it does sound like Bandai Namco just threw a dictionary into a shredder, then picked out the gothiest words it could find, but it absolutely fits the mood of the game. Forget Twilight’s sparkly vampires, or Interview With the Vampire’s Louis and Lestat, this is a grimmer, post-apocalyptic take on vampirism, which dubs its bloodsuckers Revenants.
The trailer, which you can watch below, shows that The Blinded Resurgence Offspring isn’t just creepy, thanks to its elongated neck and theatre mask, it’s exceptionally handy with a sword. On top of that, it also has a second phase where it mutates, forcing you to fight it all over again. The one good piece of news is that it doesn’t seem particularly fast on its feet.
We had a blast with Code Vein, remarking that “..an engaging story, engrossing character development and tense action come together to form an adventure that grips you from beginning to end.” We’ve got our fingers crossed this follow-up can deliver.
Code Vein 2 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC this January 29th. There’s also a character creator dropping ahead of launch.
