The stories coming off our roads have been unsettling. The latest one is out of Colorado, where a routine traffic stop ended with a discovery nobody saw coming. Police released body-cam footage from the arrest, and it’s about as strange and dangerous as you would imagine for a suspected DUI.

A man in Colorado admitted to officers that he had been driving around with three kids hidden in his trunk. This all went down on January 23 in Westminster, just north of Denver. Cops spotted his car weaving and pulled him over.
The officer walked up, caught a strong whiff of alcohol, and figured something was up. The driver said he hadn’t been drinking and agreed to do some sobriety tests, except he changed his mind at the last second. They arrested him right there. Then, after they cuffed him, he dropped the bombshell.
The officer asked, “So, you have three kids hiding in the trunk?” The man just said, “Yes.” And when the officers popped the trunk, there they were, three kids, lying inside. That footage got posted online and spread fast. It was freezing that night, but the police said the kids were okay. They also found a few bottles of alcohol in the car.
Police haven’t named the driver. They took him to Adams County Jail. He is reportedly facing charges for DUI, reckless driving, no insurance, and three counts of child abuse. Child Protective Services got involved, and the kids went home with a family member.

An X user commented, “The world is becoming scarier for our children.” Another user said, “Crazy things are happening!!” A fourth asked what’s probably on everyone’s mind: “Why were they in the trunk to begin with?” Another user went on to say, “Lock him up and throw away the key.” while a further commenter mentioned, “Unbelievable. DUI is bad enough, but three kids in the trunk? Pure madness.”
Nobody has explained yet why the kids were in the trunk, and police haven’t shared more about the driver’s relationship to them. They say they released the video to show just how serious and dangerous this kind of stuff gets, especially when kids are involved. People in the community are still shaken up. As for the legal side, there’s no word yet on the man’s bond or court dates.
