Costco is launching it’s own gas station, and it won’t be attached to any store, with the shopping giant looking to make a big splash already.
For a lot of people, going to Costco is about getting a hot dog and drink after shopping for enough stuff that you probably won’t need to visit again for a few weeks. You stock up, and keep stocking up.
However, for others, having a Costco card means that you’ve got access to cheaper-than-normal gasoline, and you can fill up your car for a pretty reasonable price.
The queue at the Costco pumps can, at times, be pretty lengthy because of everyone else wanting to shop. However, the Kirkland Signature store is aiming to curb that by launching their own gas stations that are away from stores.

That’s right, according to reports, Costco is launching a set of gas stations in the United States, starting with one location in California.
The big difference with these, price aside, is that you won’t be able to use your Costco Card to go grab a hot dog or pizza once you’ve filled up.
As per TheDrive, these locations will not have traditional Costco stores attached; it’s just a case of filling up at one of the 40 available pumps, paying, and driving off.

According to the reports, the California location is the first, with another set to open in Hawai’i in 2027. After that, they are reportedly eyeing up locations in Michigan, too.
It’s unknown if Costco is considering launching these gas stations any further than that for now, so international customers will have to keep visiting their local warehouse for Kirkland Signature fuel.

It also isn’t Costco’s first foray into something that isn’t just a warehouse. The shopping giant has plans to open an apartment complex in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles, and it’ll be above one of their stores.
