Advancing through the ranks in Counter-Strike 2 depends largely on your skill. That’s why many players spend a lot of time setting up sensitivity settings that are comfortable for them. However, that’s not all you can customize for a comfortable game.
By default, your character uses their right hand as the main one. Fortunately, this can be changed quite easily, and you may be surprised by how much changing your hand can affect your overall performance. Here’s how to switch hands in CS2.
Hand Switching in Counter-Strike 2, Explained
Having the right settings is critical to winning rounds in Counter-Strike 2, especially at higher ranks. While your hand doesn’t affect your aim, it can interfere with your visibility in certain areas of the map.
Additionally, some players, especially left-handed players, find it easier to play with their weapon in their dominant hand. Luckily, you can switch hands in CS2 quite easily by pressing the corresponding key, namely H.
- Start a round in CS2.
- Press the H key to switch to your left hand.
- If you want to switch back, simply press H again.
By default, switching hands in CS2 is bound to the H key. However, players can change the key bindings if they want to. To do this, you only need to make a few clicks:
- Launch CS2.
- Then, open the Settings by clicking the icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Next, you need to go to the Keyboard/Mouse tab.
- After that, scroll until you find the Switch Viewmodel Left/Right Hand option.
- Finally, set the key that makes switching hands more convenient for you.
How to Switch Hands With a Command in Counter-Strike 2
While pressing a single key is the easiest way to switch hands in CS2, players can also use a more complex method, namely console commands. Before using it, however, you will need to activate the console:
- Launch the game and then go to Settings.
- Select the Game tab and find the Enable Developer Console option there.
- Activate it.
Once you do this, you will want to quickly start the round. During it, click on the ~ key to bring up the console. Then, type the switchhands command and press Enter to change the viewmodel. Your character will immediately start holding a weapon in the other hand. As in the case of the first method, you can also easily change everything back. To do this, you just need to use the command again.
