A World of Warcraft player spent what sounds like a small eternity rebuilding one of gaming’s most recognizable maps inside the game’s new housing system, and the results are absurdly good.
Counter-Strike’s Dust 2 is the kind of map that needs no introduction. It has launched careers, ended friendships, and been memorized by an entire generation of players down to the pixel. WoW’s player housing, added as part of The War Within, gives players their own instanced space to decorate and arrange however they want. Most people put up some furniture, but one player built a whole other game inside it.

X user woweden recreated the CS:GO version of Dust 2 inside a housing instance they named “void gloom,” using only in-game assets to replicate the map’s long pathway, mid area, crates, barrels, doors, and signage. The attention to detail drew crossover praise from CS and WoW players alike, and the official Warcraft account replied with “GGWP” before asking where the B site was.

Getting there was not pretty, as woweden described the room as too small and too short from the jump, which meant the whole build required constant workarounds. Carpets and stones refused to lie flat. Items randomly rotated 45 degrees between sessions for no apparent reason. They reported rage-quitting approximately 40 times a day, which, given the circumstances, sounds like a conservative estimate.
Woweden called it the hardest housing design they had ever worked on, and the finished product makes that easy to believe. The screenshots show a recreation detailed enough to trigger muscle memory in anyone who spent time on the original.
The build sits on EU realms under the “void gloom” address, and woweden has opened it to visitors. Their Battle.net tag is available in their bio for anyone who wants to peek at the B site themselves.
