A Cyberpunk 2077 mod has gone viral after transforming Night City into something that looks like it was pulled straight from a VHS tape.
Created by modder Tulired/TapePunk, the VHS Reshade pack leans fully into a found footage aesthetic, inspired by late ’80s and ’90s camcorder recordings.
It’s free to download on Nexus Mods, with the creator explaining they spent months studying VHS tech and gathering feedback before finally pushing the update live.

Rather than just slapping on a basic filter, the mod recreates the quirks of analog video in detail, including screen distortion and scanlines.
In a Reddit post announcing the mod’s release, its creator said: “Finally managed to get courage and release an update to TapePunk,” adding that they had “spent countless hours learning more about VHS and camcorders” to make the aesthetic look as authentic as possible.
