A dating app is now offering ‘height verification’ as an actual feature, almost a decade after Tinder first did it as an April Fools joke.

Dating apps have plenty of different filters and settings that you can mess with to try and get matches. However, the success of these requires you to tell the truth. Otherwise, you’ll be caught out once you actually meet someone face-to-face.

Height is something that most users will often lie about, giving themselves an extra inch or so, just so that they can give themselves a greater chance of matching with their ideal partner.

It’s something that Tinder mocked back on April Fool’s Day in 2019, jokingly suggesting that they would add height verification to prove that people were telling the truth. Now, however, a new app has done just that.

Tenr has height verification for users to get better dating matches

As per Mashable, Tenr – an upstart dating app with a few thousand users – is now offering users the chance to verify their height.

“People care about height, and the app is all about not BS-ing and giving information up front,” said Adam Moelis, the founder of Tenr told Mashable. “We thought it would be kind of a fun feature. No other dating app is doing that because it’s a little bit controversial, but we think it matters to people.”

According to the report, the app uses Apple’s Measure app to make sure that the reading is accurate, but it can be off by an inch or so.

RedditTinder lets you filter by height, but not verify it like Tenr.

Moelis also noted that around 700 of their 6000 users have verified their height so far. So it’s not just a couple of people doing it.

As noted, it is something that Tinder has joked about in the past, and they do allow you to set preferences for heights. It’s just unverified.

The dating app has, however, launched a new AI-powered Chemistry feature that is aimed at giving you better matches. They also now allow users to use AI to scan through the camera roll on their phone to find the best photos for their profile.
