Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical horror game that challenges one player to assume the role of a killer whose main goal is to hunt down four survivors and kill them before they can escape. Dead by Daylight has become a staple for multiplayer horror games. Since its release almost a decade ago, many games have tried to mimic DBD’s formula, but none have achieved the level of success that DBD still has. A huge part of what makes Dead by Daylight so popular is the multiple horror licenses that exist within the Fog.
The first horror icon to come to DBD was Halloween’s Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. Since then, Dead by Daylight has done collabs with Scream, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dungeons & Dragons, Castlevania, Alien, Child’s Play, and Tomb Raider, just to name a few. Dead by Daylight’s next chapter is the highly anticipated collaboration with Five Nights at Freddy’s, but some of DBD’s crossovers come in smaller packages than full-blown chapters. The most recent collab comes in the form of a cosmetic collection based on The Witcher video games. This isn’t the first time DBD has featured a cosmetic line based on a popular franchise. Junji Ito received a cosmetic collection not too long ago.
6 Mikaela Reid as Triss Marigold
"Triss’s Dream" is a Very Rare Outfit that Costs 1,080 Auric Cells
To be perfectly blunt, most of Dead by Daylight’s The Witcher collection is incredible. These cosmetics prove that Behaviour Interactive has the chops to make beautiful outfits with immaculate details. The Witcher collection features some of the most intricate cosmetics, especially for survivors, that the game has ever seen.
«First came the hour of the witch. Now, it’s the hour of the sorceress. Mikaela Reid takes on the appearance of Triss Merigold, whose mastery of flame has long stoked the heat of battle. Inspired by the sorceress who escaped the relentless witchhunters of Novigrad, ducking Killers should be a walk in a Toussaintois meadow.»
— Dead by Daylight’s outfit description
That said, Mikaela’s «Triss’s Dream» outfit might be the only real flop of the collection. It’s not that the outfit fails to recreate Triss’s in-game look; it’s more that it highlights how bad Triss’s original outfit actually is. The color scheme is harsh on the eyes, and, unfortunately, it’s a hard sell for Mikaela. Mikaela has some of the best survivor outfits in Dead by Daylight, and Triss’s Dream fails to compare to a lot of her higher-end fits.
5 The Knight as Eredin Bréacc Glas
"Eredin's End" is a Very Rare Outfit that Costs 1,080 Auric Cells
The Knight’s «Eredin’s End» outfit is where ranking The Witcher collection becomes difficult, because from here on out, they all look fantastic. The only reason that «Eredin’s End» lands so low on this list is because the cosmetic doesn’t look all that different from a typical outfit for the Knight. Players who have no knowledge of The Witcher could look at this cosmetic and not realize it’s part of a collaboration with another video game.
«Perhaps in another world, The Knight would have been right at home riding alongside the Wild Hunt. It’s only fitting he steps into the heavy plate of Eredin Bréacc Glas, the face of abject terror across spheres untold. Now, his reputation will be forged in fog.»
— Dead by Daylight’s outfit description
That said, the details on this outfit are incredible. Dead by Daylight really leans into Eredin’s skeletal appearance by making the Knight’s armor look like it’s made of bones. The details are so seamless, it’s hard to tell what’s supposed to be armor and what’s just the Knight. This is the type of killer cosmetic that actually stands a chance of scaring an unsuspecting survivor.
4 Sable Ward as Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon
"Ciri's Visit" is a Very Rare Outfit that Costs 1,080 Auric Cells
When it comes to Sable Ward’s «Ciri’s Visit» outfit and Kate Denson’s «Yennefer’s Song» outfit, it’s a very close contest. Both outfits perfectly embody the characters they’re trying to emulate, but the only reason Kate’s outfit beats out Sable’s is that Kate’s is more intricate.
«With her ashen hair and fearless disposition, who better to embody the spirit of Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon than Dead by Daylight Survivor, Sable Ward? With the swiftness of a swallow and an impeccable mastery of the blade, she should feel right at home facing the monsters of The Fog.»
— Dead by Daylight’s outfit description
That said, Sable makes a total transformation into Geralt’s daughter, Cirilla «Ciri» Fiona Elen Riannon. Even though «Ciri’s Visit» just depicts Sable dressed as Ciri, it’s hard to even tell that there’s a different character hiding under there. She no longer looks like Sable Ward. «Ciri’s Visit» looks like Ciri stepped into the Fog herself.
3 Kate Denson as Yennefer of Vengerberg
"Yennefer's Song" is a Very Rare Outfit that Costs 1,080 Auric Cells
Kate Denson’s «Yennefer’s Song» outfit is absolutely gorgeous, and it features plenty of beautiful details that, typically speaking, Dead by Daylight wouldn’t normally offer. The incredible feathers around the shoulders stand out as an exquisite detail that catches the light, reflecting shades of green and blue against the otherwise dark outfit.
«Kate Denson hasn’t officially joined the Lodge of Sorceresses, but this is the next best thing. Don the famous garb of Yennefer of Vengerberg, whose piercing wit and formidable power are second to none. Lilac and gooseberries not included.»
— Dead by Daylight’s outfit description
«Yennefer’s Song» also features intricate stitching, belts, buckles, and an unmistakable silhouette. The only downside to «Yennefer’s Song» is that Kate is still very visible under Yen’s aesthetic. She doesn’t make quite the transformation that Sable does.
2 The Artist as the Leshen
"The Leshen" is a Legendary Outfit that Costs 1,485 Auric Cells
The Artist’s «The Leshen» cosmetic is one of two legendary outfits in The Witcher collection and the only legendary killer outfit. It’s not hard to see why this outfit made it so far up on this list. «The Leshen» makes the Artist completely unrecognizable. Gone is the eerie woman with elongated proportions, and instead, a terrifying forest spirit takes her place. «The Leshen» looks like it is made of bark, moss, and bone, as if a forest came to life to protect the woods that birthed it.
«With her affinity for crows, The Artist is the natural fit to become the Leshen, a primeval woodland spirit of the forest. Fearsome enough to fill hearts with dread at the mere whisper of its name, few monsters of The Witcher’s bestiary can rival the might of this ancient forest spirit. As the Collection’s second Legendary Outfit, Leshen will also receive unique sounds and lobby animations.»
— Dead by Daylight’s outfit description
This monster design looks like it stepped right out of a Witcher game, making the Entity’s Realm feel a little more expansive and even more horrifying. If the Entity can create and contain creatures like a Leshen, what other horrors can it unleash on its victims? The Artist was the perfect choice for this character, as her proportions were already exaggerated enough to create this iconic monster. The Artist also has a special bond with nature, so this costume just makes sense.
1 Vittorio Toscano as Geralt of Rivia
"Geralt of Rivia" is a Legendary Outfit that Costs 1,485 Auric Cells
It should come as no surprise that the «Geralt of Rivia» outfit comes out on top. This is the second of two legendary skins in The Witcher collection and the only legendary survivor skin. Unlike Sable, Mikaela, and Kate, who are all dressed as Witcher characters, Vittorio is completely replaced with Geralt of Rivia, making him a survivor of his own.
«Vittorio Toscano is no stranger to swordplay, having experienced The Knight’s brutality firsthand. Now, he can essentially become Geralt, taking on the appearance of the White Wolf. With new voice lines from Doug Cockle, this Outfit brings Geralt into a horror universe for the first time.»
— Dead by Daylight’s outfit description
To accompany this
amazing recreation of CD Projekt’s Geralt, Geralt’s voice actor, Doug Cockle, lends his talents to Dead by Daylight to bring Geralt of Rivia to life. This legendary cosmetic is so accurate to The Witcher games, it really proves how far Behaviour’s designs have come.
