My Hero Academia Season 7 makes movies canon in perfect way

My Hero Academia kicked off Season 7 in epic fashion, jumping right into the fight between Star and Stripe and Shigaraki. But there’s a lowkey connection to the movies that’s the real highlight.

My Hero Academia Season 7 is a landmark moment for the anime show. We’re pushing towards the Final War Arc, as part of the Final Act Saga. In other words, sadly, one of the best anime will be ending soon.

But not without a bang, in the form of the multi-tiered fight against Shigaraki and All For One. Star and Stripe has first go, being called in by All Might, and her entrance involved a stroll down memory lane fans will find intriguing.

She reveals, en-route to help Japan’s heroes, that All Might was a huge influence after saving her during a family vacation. We then get a flashback to a younger All Might intervening during a robbery, and a wide-eyed Star and Stripe becoming an instant fan.

It’s a cute moment, but viewers who’re familiar with the My Hero Academia films will recognize a deeper meaning. This is the same scene that plays out at the start of My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, the first movie in the franchise.

Though an innocuous connection on paper, My Hero Academia just made the associated films canon in a way we haven’t seen before, and rarely encounter in anime franchises. Often, the movies are merely spin-offs, and until now, you could say that about My Hero Academia.

Not any more though — it’s all canon, and we might just get more nods down the line too. My Hero Academia You’re Next just got a lot more interesting this summer!
