The developers of Diablo 4 have confirmed that the game has a decade’s worth of planned content in its roadmap and that the team is in it for the long haul, despite dips in the game’s content since launch.

The old Diablo games kept players around for years with a single purchase, plus an expansion pack for those looking for extra content. Then, Diablo 3 came along, and its infamous “Real Money Auction House” stained the series’ reputation forever. Luckily, Blizzard reigned things, but things were never quite the same.

Diablo 4 has taken a different tack, with regular paid expansions that offer content injections for players to enjoy. In an interview with Game File, Rod Fergusson, the General Manager of the Diablo Franchise, discussed what’s in store for the series further down the line.

Diablo 4 Will Be Supported Until 2035

According to Fergusson, Diablo 5 has a 10-year roadmap of content planned. It has already been confirmed that a new expansion is coming in 2026, though it’s unclear if the game will receive these until the decade is up, and Blizzard starts gearing up for Diablo 5.

Fergusson’s comment has happened shortly after the reveal of the Diablo 4 2025 roadmap, which has been blasted by fans for being vague and not having much concrete content, despite the developers assurances that there is more on the way this year.

There’s no denying that Diablo IV has an uphill battle ahead of it for players’ time. Not only is Path of Exile 2 drawing players over into its audience, but it has to compete with the abundance of live service titles that are already available, ones without as much of a financial commitment for new content.

Luckily, Diablo IV is already a hit, and it has the might of Blizzard and Xbox Game Studios behind it, so it shouldn’t be going anywhere. It’s easy to think that there could be expansions all the way until 2035, possibly for the PlayStation 7 or Xbox Whatever ports of the game.
