After finally tracking down the secret cow level and slaying The Cow King, Diablo 4 players are now on the lookout for “The Cow God.”
Ever since Diablo 4 launched back in 2023, fans were desperately searching for the secret cow level, which appeared in the previous two games. Although Blizzard always maintained there wasn’t one, that didn’t stop players from trying.
The devs weren’t lying either, but with the Lord of Hatred expansion, they finally added the secret area and questline to unlock it. Those who completed it were transported to a special island for a showdown with killer cows and The Cow King boss.
This appeared to be the end of it, but now fans are convinced that there are bigger cattle to battle, as the hunt has begun for a cow deity.
Diablo 4’s secret cow level appears to set up even bigger mystery
As explained by YouTuber LoatheBurger, who also found the secret cow level, The Cow King drops some interesting items once defeated. One of these is The Cow King’s Helm, and the description calls the boss the “Hoof of Moophisto.”
This is obviously a joke based on Mephisto, one of the most powerful antagonists in the Diablo series. However, the boss also drops a new item called “Prime Rib,” which is listed as a Rare Quest Item, and is described as a “worthy offering to anyone, even a god.”
All of these signs point towards there being more to this questline than previously thought. In his video, LoatheBurger tried to come up with a number of theories as to what the next step is, and the one he deemed the most likely is related to Sea Cows.
The YouTuber pointed out that the devs were wearing confusing shirts showing Sea Cows in the livestream leading up to Lord of Hatred’s release, and there is also one currently displayed on the in-game map next to Skavos.

This led him to believe that there is something hiding in the waters near Skavos that needs to be fished out.
Blizzard has yet to comment on whether or not this is the case, but there are definitely enough hints to suggest that there’s more to this questline than meets the eye, and the community-wide cow-hunt is already underway.
