Neverness to Everness, the popular gacha game set in an epic supernatural world, has come under fire recently after fans accused the game of using AI.
Whether you’re grabbing the best character, completing quests, or just exploring the city, it’s hard to deny how beautiful Neverness to Everness’ designs are. They’re filled with anime inspirations, stunning looks akin to various locations in Japan and beyond, and of course, all those creepy anomalies.
However, once the game was released, fans began hitting out after uncovering supposed generative AI use, with some even claiming “they straight up stole” shots from a famous anime.
Does Neverness to Everness use AI?
Currently, the Neverness to Everness devs haven’t officially spoken on whether the final game has AI in it or not.
However, they did speak about the AI backlash in a previous dev interview, writing “our core assets and character portraits will never touch AI.” They went on to add, “We will mainly use AI to run some atmosphere renderings to see if it is the feeling we want as preliminary work for finding references and a lot of trial and error.”

Despite this, fans have been hitting out at the game, with many claiming that they “stole” shots from famous anime like Weathering with You. Others have echoed the statement, showcasing videos within the game that are reportedly “straight up scenes from Weathering with You but with an AI filter on top of it.”
Another user shared a character animation, exclaiming that it’s “the most obvious usage of gen AI.” Many other fans also expressed the same frustrations, sharing wall-art designs and animations they suspect use AI.

There's a billboard that's just straight up scenes from Weathering with You but with an ai filter on top of it. I really like this game and I'm enjoying it a lot, but holy shit this is not a good look and it's so lazy pic.twitter.com/Lb7kcJK2jf
