'Don’t Make Me Look Bad': Jensen Ackles Discusses Upcoming Supernatural Reunion With Jared Padalecki & Misha Collins 5 Years Later

Supernatural vet Jensen Ackles has opened up about his long-awaited reunion with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins in The Boys Season 5. In the hit superhero show, Ackles portrays the fan-favorite role of Soldier Boy, who has been one of the main antagonists in recent seasons.

During a recent interview with People, Ackles was asked about his experience working with Padalecki and Collins again during the production of The Boys Season 5. While teasing their guest-starring appearances, he admitted that it was strange for him to see them on the set of The Boys.

“It was weird. It was like inviting my friends over to somebody else’s house for dinner,” he said. “I was like, ‘Listen, guys, don’t make me look bad. I got to stay here.’ They were amazing. I can’t wait to talk more about it because it was quite an experience.”

This marks the Supernatural trio’s first on-screen appearance in a long while since the popular horror fantasy series wrapped up its 15-season run in 2021.

The Boys hails from showrunner Eric Kripke, who serves as the creator and executive producer. The show is based on the best-selling comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The fifth and final season will also feature returning cast members Karl Urban as Butcher, Antony Starr as Homelander, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Erin Moriarty as Annie/Starlight, Tomer Capone as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko/ The Female, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Laz Alonso as M.M., Chace Crawford as The Deep, Colby Minifie as Ashley, Cameron Crovetti as Ryan, Susan Heyward as Sister Sage, Valorie Curry as Firecracker, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe Kessler, and Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir. Besides Padalecki and Collins, Season 5 will also include guest stars Paul Reiser, Daveed Diggs, and Mason Dye.

Production on the final season had just recently wrapped, just in time for its planned 2026 release. In a previous interview, Kripke and Mitchell teased fans to expect “lots of deaths” in Season 5, revealing that no character is safe. “There’s no guarantee of who’s gonna survive. There are some things that are coming in Season 5 that you’re not going to have in your bingo card,” Mitchell said. The penultimate season ended on a horrifying but timely note, with Homelander gaining control over the United States government.

What’s Next for Soldier Boy After The Boys?

Nearly a year ago, Amazon MGM Studios officially granted a series order to its newest The Boys spinoff, Vought Rising, which will chronicle the beginnings of Vought. Set to lead the show are Ackles and Aya Cash. The latter will be reprising her fan-favorite role as Stormfront/Liberty, who is best known for her electrokinetic powers. According to showrunner Paul Grellong, the story will be a “twisted murder mystery” that will take place in the 1950s. «We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V,” Grellong teased.
