Fans like us have witnessed Goku break a new ceiling, and Vegeta, fueled by sheer spite and a bruised ego, training himself to exhaustion to catch up. From the first time they clashed on Earth to the cosmic battles of Dragon Ball Super, the Prince of All Saiyans has often felt like he was playing a perpetual game of “follow the leader.”

Since the Galactic Patrol Saga is already in production, this means that the anime adaptation of the Granolah arc might not be too far off as well. Fans can actually hope to see Vegeta’s Ultra Ego come to life on screens.

Ultra Ego gets its debut during Vegeta’s fight in the Granolah arc and is presented as the product of training under a God of Destruction. The idea and look were developed by Toyotarou with the blessing of Akira Toriyama, which helps explain why it fits so naturally into the story and Vegeta’s temperament. In practice, Ultra Ego converts damage and pain into fuel. The more Vegeta takes, the stronger and more ferocious he becomes.

To understand why Ultra Ego is such a monumental shift, we have to look at Vegeta’s history of transformations. For years, he followed Goku’s path: Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and the God forms. Even Super Saiyan Blue Evolution, while unique to Vegeta, felt like an offshoot of a technique Goku had already mastered. The problem was that Vegeta was trying to fight like an Angel.

Now, Goku’s Ultra Instinct is built on tranquility, letting go of oneself, and reacting without thought. For a man whose entire identity is built on his name, his lineage, and his unyielding will, “letting go” was never going to work. Vegeta doesn’t want to react. He wants to conquer. This is where Ultra Ego changes everything. Ultra Instinct is calm, surgical, and defensive; Ultra Ego is a wild, destructive force that embraces conflict.

The transformation also grants Vegeta access to the Power of Destruction, the same cosmic technique associated with deities like Beerus. It alters his aura, hair tone, and facial features in ways that underscore the form’s divine-but-dangerous nature.

Why This Destructive Transformation Is The Prince’s True Destiny

Ultra Ego represents the completion of Vegeta’s character arc. He has moved from a villain who sought immortality, to a rival seeking power, to a hero who has finally found a path that is uniquely his. While Goku survives by never being touched, Vegeta thrives by absorbing the enemy’s best shot and returning it with interest.

For a Prince who was born to conquer, this “unbounded” power isn’t just a new technique. It’s the culmination of his entire life’s work. By settling on Ultra Ego as his strongest form, Dragon Ball Super has given Vegeta something he has deserved for decades: independence from Goku’s shadow. It is a form that says Vegeta doesn’t need to be calm. He doesn’t need to be a pacifist. He just needs to be Vegeta.

While we have had two massive films since then, such as Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, neither has touched upon the Granolah arc where Ultra Ego debuts. Super Hero focused more on Gohan and Piccolo’s new forms (Beast and Orange Piccolo), while Vegeta was shown training on Beerus’ planet, hinting at his progress but not yet showcasing the purple-haired transformation.

Now, we all await the day Ultra Ego stomps into animation. Because when it does, it won’t just be another power-up. It’ll be the logical, fiery crown jewel on Vegeta’s long, stubborn road to being undeniably himself.

Do you think Ultra Ego truly surpasses every other Vegeta form, or is his ultimate evolution still ahead? Drop your take below.
