Fans of the Chinese donghua Dragon Raja — The Blazing Dawn have reason to breathe a little easier. The series’ makers have officially confirmed production on a third season. The announcement, made by the show’s official staff on Weibo (Chinese social media) in August 2025, names the upcoming arc and confirms the studio’s intent to continue adapting Jiang Nan’s best-selling novels.

That means the cast, story threads, and unanswered mysteries left by season two now have a path forward, even though no broadcast date has been given yet. For international viewers, the situation raises two big questions: where will the new season stream outside China, and which parts of the novels will it adapt?

Dragon Raja Season 3: Production Confirmed, What Fans Should Know

The news of Dragon Raja Season 3’s production status first appeared on August 10, 2025, in Weibo. The official staff confirmed the production via a key visual for the Black Moon Tide (黑月之潮) arc.

As per Google Translate, coverage from several Chinese news sites and gaming/entertainment outlets repeated the studio notice and shared the promotional poster released with the announcement. They also reported that a game, Dragon Raja: The Last Journey, was dropped on the official stream channels (via Gamersky).

The official statement marks a formal green light from the show’s producers. Which means it is not merely fan speculation. The studios did not, however, attach a premiere date or episode count when they announced the start of production.

However, considering the previous two installments released in 2022 and 2025, respectively, the next season is likely to debut in 2028. However, it’s only a speculation at this point. Furthermore, Garden Studio had previously handled the production of both seasons, so Season 3 will likely be handled by the same studio alongside Tencent.

For international viewers, the best way to watch Dragon Raja so far has been via licensed partners. Crunchyroll picked up season two for its Summer 2025 lineup and has previously handled international releases and the Japanese broadcast promotion for the donghua. That means Crunchyroll is the most reliable place outside China to expect official subtitled or dubbed versions when new seasons are localized.

What Dragon Raja Season 3 Means for Story & Cast

The third season’s subtitle matches the name of one of the novel arcs in Jiang Nan’s Dragon Raja series. Based on the novels, that arc deepens the series’ political and supernatural stakes: it explores the aftermath of earlier conflicts, introduces darker conspiracies around dragons and hybrid humans, and brings key characters into morally complex choices. For now, only limited information is available regarding Season 3.

If the anime follows the novels’ structure, viewers can expect a shift toward larger set-piece battles and more worldbuilding. Because the series has adapted volumes in order so far, this makes the “Black Moon Tide” subtitle a logical signal of which novel volumes the show will lean on.

The original donghua’s production involved Tencent and Penguin Pictures, with animation by the studio credited on earlier seasons. Dragon Raja used the same voice actors for both of its previous seasons. Chen Jinwen gave voice to Lu Mingfei’s Mandarin version, while Yamashita Daiki took over reigns for the Japanese dub. Same with the cast for primary characters like Chu Zihang, Chen Motong, Hilbert Ron, Ceaser, and others.

Official posts did not list a full staff or cast for season three at the time of the production announcement. That means voice cast returns and key staff returns (director, writers, composer) are unconfirmed until follow-up updates. Historically, returning seasons have kept major leads, but any formal confirmation will come from the show’s channels.

What Happened in Dragon Raja Season 1 & 2

In Season 1, Lu Mingfei is an ordinary high-school student who suddenly receives an acceptance letter to a strange school called Cassell College. He soon learns this school trains people to fight dragons. And many of the students are “hybrids” (humans with dragon blood).

Lu Mingfei starts off clumsy and uncertain, but he’s pulled into several dangerous missions, meets key people (like Chen Motong, Chu Zihang, and Caesar), and discovers that the world hides a long, brutal history between humans and dragons. The tone of season 1 mixes school life with big action set pieces as the students uncover secrets and face real dragon threats.

Season 2 follows the same core characters but pushes the story into larger, darker territory. The students face political plots and outside forces that try to influence or control Cassell College. Missions take them beyond the school. The series adds larger conspiracies (families and criminal groups with dragon-related interests), personal trials for characters like Chu Zihang and Lu Mingfei, and escalating supernatural dangers.
