A man from China has gone viral after driving almost 600 miles to propose to his girlfriend, and telling traffic to get out of the way during his journey.
Proposing to your partner can take a fair bit of planning. Not only do you need to have an engagement ring sorted, but you might want to make sure you’ve got a photographer on hand to capture things.
On top of all that, you need to have a location locked down, too. You might choose somewhere that means something in your relationship, rather than doing it on the fly in public or at a family get-together.
Well, in the case of 26-year-old Tan, he powered through traffic in China, urging fellow drivers to get out of the way so that he could propose to his longtime girlfriend during the Lunar New Year.
Man drives 12 hours with sign on car to propose to partner
As per the South China Morning Post, Tan drove 12-and-a-half hours to meet his girlfriend after she returned home to Guizhou, but had a sign plastered on his car for other drivers to share in the joy.
“Brothers, let me go first. I am heading to Guizhou to propose to the love of my life,” the sign read, with a number of videos appearing on Chinese social media of Tan’s car.
Tan told Jiangxi TV that a number of drivers congratulated him along the way, with plenty heeding the sign’s advice and moving out the way for him to go through.

“At first, the journey felt endless, but the closer I got, the more excited I became. The kindness I received made my happiness even greater,” he said, revealing that his girlfriend ultimately said yes to the proposal.
Tan’s endeavour isn’t the only traffic-related relationship story we’ve seen recently.
