Guide to the Eclipse Puzzle in The Talos Principle: Reawakened – In the Beginning

A significant aspect of the Eclipse puzzle is that many of its elements are only relevant if you’re striving for the coveted Gold Star. For players looking for a substantial hint, remember that you can bypass nearly half of the puzzle area if you focus solely on obtaining the tetromino.

Another cryptic clue involves utilizing pause points; maintaining items in the air during a pause is critical to solving this puzzle. Now, if you’re ready to dive into the solution, continue reading for a comprehensive walkthrough.

Phase One: Initial Steps

Your journey begins by acquiring the key to access the locked door located on the left side of the puzzle area.

Eclipse Puzzle Overview

  • Move towards the inactive barrier on the right side. Take the connector from the elevated step and connect it to the nearby blue beam and the adjacent blue node. Position the connector next to the elevated step while maintaining its connection to the initial node. This will deactivate the barrier, although a fan will still obstruct your path.

Puzzle Mechanics

  • Turn around and locate a hexahedron (box) on a weighted switch to your right. Take the box, and while standing on the other side of the newly deactivated barrier, place the box on the elevated step to deactivate the fan.

Box Mechanics

  • Remove the fan from the vent and position it on the weighted switch to deactivate the barrier in front of you. Retrieve the box from the elevated step to restore the blue beam connection, disabling the barrier on the left side. This allows you to retrieve the fan. Place the fan next to the box and connector.

Key Acquisition

  • Bring the box and the fan back to the starting area. Place the fan on the vent to the right of the weighted switch at the puzzle entrance, and set the box on the weighted switch. This will activate the vent, allowing you to jump into the air and land on the platform where the keys are located.

Acquired Keys

Phase Two: Unlocking Complexity

With the keys in your possession, you can now unlock the door to access the recorder. However, your next challenge is to retrieve the connector, which is currently trapped on the opposite side of the barrier it controls. Let’s utilize the recorder to navigate these complexities.

Using Recorder

  • After unlocking the door, activate the recorder and create a pause point in any location. Then, hit play on your recording.

Paused Recording Mechanics

  • With the duplicated version of the connector active in your recording, you can now retrieve the connector without interrupting the beams when the recording is paused. Place it next to the vents and weighted switch by the puzzle entrance before allowing the recording to resume.

With the connector obtained, the challenges multiply in complexity.

Connector Placement

  • Take the connector and attach it to the red beam and red node depicted in the earlier image. Position the connector beside the vent.

Preparing for Next Phase

  • Initiate a new recording and select the fan to use as a weight on the left side’s weighted switch.

Setting Up New Recording

  • Attach the connector to the red node visible through the wall window and leave it in that position.

Finalizing Setup

  • Retrieve the fan from the weighted switch and reposition it on the vent on the floor. Complete the previous actions and create a pause point.

Pause Mechanics in Action

  • Take the box, activate the weighted switch that powers the fans, and create another pause point.

Final Pause Point Setup

  • Drop the box onto the fan directly in front of the weighted switch and, once it reaches peak height, create another pause point. Now it’s time to stop the recording.

Winning Mechanics

  • As the playback of your recording commences, retrieve the fan again, placing it back on the weighted switch just as in the recording. When your recorded version places the fan back on the vent and hits the first pause point, position the box on top of the fan while keeping it paused. Grab the connector and link it to the duplicated version recorded earlier, placing the connector onto the box.

Navigating the Last Challenge

  • With the recording still paused, venture to the left side of the puzzle room and beyond the purple barrier. Play the recording, and the blue barrier should lift when the box and connector are elevated. Ensure you don’t unpause it until you pass through the blue barrier.

Reaching the Final Steps

  • You are very close to completing the puzzle! The barrier shielding the tetromino is nearly disabled, but an obstructing fan may still be in your path.

Final Puzzle Solution

  • To conclude, un-pause the recording again. Once everything is elevated, the recorded box should align perfectly to block the red beam deactivating the fan, allowing you to seize the tetromino and finish the puzzle. Just keep an eye on the box’s ascent, and make a swift move for the tetromino as soon as you see it effectively blocking the beam.

Be sure to allow ample time for the red beams to activate each node, as experienced players of The Talos Principle understand that node activation may not be instantaneous.
