It was over more than a decade ago that Gossip Girl came to an end. While there was a reboot series, it did not fare as well as the original, which famously starred Ed Westwick as the initially controversial but later lovable character, Chuck Bass.
Now, decades later, the actor was recently asked by Hits Radio whether he would be open to returning to the world of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. And he stated:
It would be super interesting to see where Chuck Bass is. I just think it would be really hard to get everyone together. You know what? I think anything is possible in this world, so yeah it would be great to know what Chuck is up to these days – for sure!
The original series ran from 2007 to 2012, featuring an ensemble cast that included Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, and Westwick. Based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s book series of the same name, it has since become a cult classic, especially among young audiences who love the scandal and drama set in New York City.
Will Ed Westwick Return in Sandokan Season 2?

While Gossip Girl remains the role that made Ed Westwick a household name, he has since been steadily working on other projects, and one of the highest-profile is the international adventure series Sandokan.
Also known as Sandokan: The Pirate Prince, it is based on Emilio Salgari’s novel series about the fabled pirate who rebels against colonial powers in 19th-century Southeast Asia. The Italian production stars Can Yaman as the titular pirate and Westwick as Lord James Brooke, a British naval adversary and romantic rival.
The first season of the show aired in Italy on Rai 1 and then internationally on Netflix and Disney+ in some regions. It has since earned praise for its adaptation, its expansive production, lush settings, and high-stakes adventure narrative.
After the success of the first season, La Repubblica, an Italian newspaper, confirmed that the series had been renewed for a second season (via What’s on Netflix). Filming for Sandokan Season 2 is expected to begin in 2026 and will take place in Calabria. As for a release date and where it will stream internationally, those remain to be decided.
What Is Gamblr and How Is Ed Westwick Connected?

Away from screens and scripts, Ed Westwick has also branched into business ventures. In July 2025, it was publicly reported that Westwick had become a shareholder and ambassador for Gamblr.
Gamblr is an online platform described as a crypto-centric gaming and betting operator. It has positioned itself as a crypto-first gaming operator in the broader landscape of digital and blockchain-related ventures.
After being announced as the ambassador, Westwick stated:
I’m excited to be joining forces with Gamblr. They’re a cutting-edge company with a commitment to providing safe and entertaining gaming experiences with a touch of class. I look forward to working with them and engaging with their community.
The move represents an interesting diversification for Westwick’s career beyond acting. Westwick’s involvement likely involves both financial backing and promotional support, leveraging his public profile to raise brand awareness among audiences that might overlap with his existing fanbase.
As for Gossip Girl, it remains one of his best roles to date, and many fans would love to see Chuck Bass return on screen. What do you think about a revival of the show, but with the original cast? Let us know in the comments below.
Gossip Girl and Sandokan are available to be streamed on Netflix in the United States.
