Add Us On Here is a fact-based summary of the story contents:

Emily in Paris season 6 is already shaping up to be the show’s juiciest yet, but one wrong move could ruin the Netflix hit forever. While Emily in Paris season 5 wasn’t perfect, it was an overall strong outing for Emily Cooper and co., with Emily finding herself in Rome, developing more agency and becoming more likable, and ultimately choosing the City of Lights over her Italian boyfriend, Marcello.

With Marcello as the leading man, season 5 saw some major shifts in the Emily in Paris cast, most notably a diminished role for Gabriel. The resident «hot chef,» and Emily’s on-again, off-again paramour bowed out of the race to re-win her heart after he saw her so happy with Marcello at the beginning of season 5.

But now that Emily is single again, Gabriel looks to be re-entering the story in a big way — let’s just hope Emily in Paris season 6 doesn’t drop the ball.

Emily In Paris Has Been Renewed For Season 6

With season 5’s cliffhanger ending, it seemed like Emily in Paris season 6 was inevitable, and indeed, Netflix officially announced the show’s return earlier this week. This is hardly a surprise given the series’ popularity on the streaming platform, and though many have labeled it as a «hate-watchEmily in Paris season 5 received the highest Rotten Tomatoes score in the show’s history, sitting at a respectable 73%.

While season 5 played around with the title card, cheekily referring to the show as «Emily in Rome» for the first half, season 6 will likely be «Emily in Greece.» In the final moments of the season 5 finale, Gabriel, now happily working as a private chef on a yacht, learns that Emily and Marcello are no longer together.

He sends her a flirtatious postcard inviting her to join him in the Mediterranean country, and the last shot of the season sees Gabriel staring hopefully out at the ocean. This could very well lead to Emily in Paris‘s most romantic season yet, but season 6 must save the show from repeating past grievous mistakes.

Emily In Paris Season 6 Must Avoid Another Emily & Gabriel Love Triangle

It’s obvious that Emily and Gabriel’s romantic relationship is far from over, and season 6 is set up to see what’s next for the pair. What’s especially exciting about a potential rekindling is that both characters are totally single, meaning that there’s potential for them not to be thrown into an umpteenth love triangle.

It was their love triangle with Camille that made season 4 particularly dour compared to the others, which is a death knell for a show meant to deliver froth and escapism. Besides season 4’s muted tone, what made this storyline particularly frustrating is that it is total old hat on the show. Whether it’s Camille, Alfie, or someone else, Emily in Paris has had myriad other parties disrupting Emily and Gabriel’s romance, and enough is enough.

The absense of an Emily-centric love triangle is precisely what made season 5 so refreshing. While she did have a brief flirtmance with a charming American expat, this happened when Emily and Marcello had broken up (the first time), and when they reunited, she was again unattached.

Gabriel actor Lucas Bravo has candidly complained about the detiroration of his character across Emily in Paris‘ first four seasons, and even though his screentime in season 5 was incredibly limited, Gabriel’s spark had returned as he finally took control of his life and career. This is the Gabriel we want to see in Emily in Paris season 6, and while we don’t expect things to be perfect between him and Emily, because that would be boring, another love triangle must be avoided at all costs.

The Only Love Triangle That Belongs In Emily In Paris Season 6

Though many of Emily in Paris‘s love triangles involve Emily and Gabriel, almost every main character is involved in at least one throughout some point in the series. It’s enough to make audiences wish the show would forever wash their hands out of this overused trope, but one love triangle in particular absolutely must be part of season 6.

That love triangle is, of course, Mindy, Alfie, and Nico. Mindy and Alfie getting together was easily the steamiest part of season 5, lighting up the screen whenever they had scenes together. The season also smartly avoided a Mindy-Emily-Alfie love triangle, as, while Emily was hurt they hid their romance from her, she made it clear that she and Alfie were truly over.

Sadly, when Mindy and Alfie broke up and Nico strutted back into her life, her storyline fell flat. Nico may indeed be a changed man and willing to give Mindy what she deserves, but there’s absolutely nothing between them. Their chemistry pales in comparison to what she had with Alfie, and Mindy ing through with her engagement and marrying Nico would be detrimental not just to her character, but to the show.

Thankfully, Alfie doesn’t seem to be willing to let Mindy go without a fight, as evidenced by their last interaction in season 5. Alfie, much like Gabriel, appears primed and ready to charge into Emily in Paris season 6 with romantic guns blazing, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
