Earlier this year, Epic Games decided to give Fortnite cheaters a second chance. In April, cheaters who had been banned for a year or more were unbanned, albeit under increased scrutiny. While this was a controversial move, the truth is that it hasn’t significantly impacted the player base. Furthermore, Epic still has a zero-tolerance cheating policy, which is why the company just sued a cheat developer.
On Tuesday, Epic revealed another lawsuit against a Fortnite cheater. On top of this, the game developer is going after everyone who helped distribute the cheating software.
Fortnite takes legal action against another cheater
Earlier this year, Epic banned and sued a player who violated the rules in competitive mode. The cheater also had to make an apology video and donate the money he won to charity. Now, the game developer is going after those who use and develop cheats for Fortnite.
“We filed a new lawsuit against an individual who developed and sold cheating software that helped players see through walls and auto aim,” the company announced on Tuesday. “We’re also going after people who helped sell this software.”
It’s important to add that cheat sellers and developers will not get a second chance. Once banned, they will stay banned forever. Furthermore, Epic Games will take legal action against many of them to prevent the distribution of cheating software. The game maker has been going after cheaters and cheat makers for seven years now, and this is unlikely to stop anytime soon.
Fortnite still has millions of daily active players, and detecting all the cheaters is nearly impossible. However, going after cheat makers is certainly a step in the right direction, as this should reduce the amount of cheating in the popular battle royale game.
