Bosch: Legacy came to an end with its third season, leaving many fans heartbroken and wanting more. The Bosch: Legacy cancellation was a surprise for many, even for the show’s star, Titus Welliver, who confirmed they were working on different storylines for Season 4 before they learned of the series’ fate. This meant the series had to wrap things a little bit quicker than expected, and most fans can agree that the Bosch: Legacy finale didn’t quite feel like an end to Harry’s journey. Yet while fans were sad to see the show end, many can agree that the latest episodes were some of the best in the Bosch: Legacy universe.

Bosch: Legacy Season 3 delivered many high-quality episodes that proved why the crime drama remains one of the best in recent years, and such a beloved show. But while every episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3 was great, some were still better than others. The final season of Bosch: Legacy adapted two different Michael Connelly novels, Desert Star and The Black Ice. The series finale also introduced Renée Ballard, another character from the Michael Connelly novels, who will soon get her own spin-off series. Bosch: Legacy Season 3 delivered a mix of tension, drama, and shocking moments, and some episodes stand out for their perfect mix of everything that made Bosch: Legacy such a compelling show.

10 “Dig Down” Felt More Like an Epilogue Than a Series Finale

Season 3, Episode 10

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

«Dig Down» is the season finale and the final episode of Bosch: Legacy. However, the episode felt more like an epilogue to introduce Renée Ballard’s character, than to give closure to the many characters and storylines in Bosch: Legacy. Renée Ballard reaches out to Harry Bosch as she is now working on a cold case that Harry originally worked on many years ago.

Harry and Renée investigate the new leads and close a case that has haunted Harry for many years. While «Dig Down» is a promising start to Ballard and Bosch’s partnership, it didn’t feel like a fitting end to the season, and to the entire series. Many storylines remained unfinished and other major characters in Bosch: Legacy had little to do in the series’ finale. Hopefully, some of these storylines and unanswered questions will be answered in the upcoming Ballard spin-off. But for those who wanted to see a fitting end to Harry’s journey and to the many beloved Bosch: Legacy characters, «Dig Down» wasn’t the finale they wanted to see.

9 “Badlands” Left Many Storylines Unfinished

Season 3, Episode 9

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

While «Dig Down» is the last episode of Bosch: Legacy, «Badlands» feels like the original finale. Yet even so, «Badlands» closes a few storylines while leaving many still open. «Badlands» provides closure to the family’s murder case Bosch was working on, as it sees Bosch tracking down the killer at last. But «Badlands» still left many other plot lines unfinished, particularly those that involved characters like Honey Chandler and Officer Vasquez.

In one of these storylines, Officer Vasquez deals with the fallout with her sister after Vasquez had to arrest her own nephew. Meanwhile, Congressman Currey almost kills another one of his dates and later gets information about Honey Chandler and her confidential sessions with her psychologist, which Currey hopes to use against her at some point.

8 “Blankie” Is Hindered by the Investigation on Harry

Season 3, Episode 3

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

«Blankie» opens with the investigation into Siobhan’s family disappearance, and the episode sheds more light on what happened. Harry then continues his investigation into the people close to Siobhan’s family, and eventually meets McShane, who later becomes the prime suspect. But most of this episode, while interesting, is hindered by the investigation of Harry.

In a way, many of the events in «Blankie» feel reminiscent of the events of Bosch Season 5 when Preston Borders accused Harry of planting evidence. Now, Borders is back again with claims that any Bosch and Bosch: Legacy fan already knows will be proven false. And while it adds tension to the story, it also becomes frustrating when no one seems to bring up that Borders already conspired to frame Harry once, so why are they taking his new claims so seriously now?

7 “Welcome to the Other Side” Is About Revelations

Season 3, Episode 7

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

«Welcome to the Other Side» sees Honey Chandler take the heat after she refuses to charge the main suspect in Jimmy Robertson’s murder. This episode then focuses on Bosch and Mo investigating more about the cases Jimmy was working on, while Honey Chandler’s team tries to get more evidence against the suspect. However, more details and revelations come out that clearly point to Jimmy Robertson’s death not being a random tragedy, but a targeted assassination.

«Welcome to the Order Side» also sees Maddie learning about Vasquez’s nephew and his role in the string of robberies that Maddie and Vasquez are working on. Mo meets with his former fling and FBI agent, Janice, who gives Mo information that eventually helps Mo and Harry track down McShane, the man who killed Siobhan’s family. «Welcome to the Other Side» might not be filled with actions and shocking twists, but it’s an interesting episode about new leads and details that help set up what comes next.

6 “Broken Order” Lets Honey Chandler Shine in Her New Role

Season 3, Episode 6

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

After the shocking events of “F***ing Politics,” «Broken Order» delves right into the manhunt for Jimmy Robertson’s killer. This episode lets Honey Chandler shine in her new role as District Attorney, where she has to deal with extreme pressure on this high-profile case. However, Honey holds her ground instead of going for a quick resolution, knowing she’ll make more than one person upset.

«Broken Order» proves that Honey Chandler was the right choice for District Attorney, as she also knows what a defense attorney will look for to ruin their case. Honey’s desire to have more evidence to create a solid case frustrates the other prosecutors, but she is soon vindicated when Harry finds evidence that Jimmy’s murder wasn’t as clear-cut as it seemed. «Broken Order» is a solid episode of Bosch: Legacy that lets Honey Chandler and Harry Bosch shine at what they do best.

5 “Whippoorwills” Ends Preston Borders’ Storyline

Season 3, Episode 4

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

While the Preston Borders storyline felt a little bit frustrating at times, «Whippoorwills» takes this plot line to a satisfying conclusion. Things become confusing and more complicated as Harry testifies in front of a grand jury and refuses to answer some of the questions. But the episode delivers even more tension as Borders goes to testify, and Harry sees Borders’ wife, Rita Tedesco, who looks suspicious. Things come to a tense and action-packed conclusion as Harry follows Robertson and Lopez, who are driving Borders back to prison after testifying.

But, of course, Borders had other plans, and his accomplices were waiting for him to ambush Robertson and Lopez, and help Borders escape. Luckily, Harry arrives just in time to ruin Borders’ plans. «Whippoorwills» brings Borders’ story to an end as Robertson kills Borders after Borders confesses that he was lying about Harry during a chase filled with tension and dangerous moments. This episode also brings another satisfying moment as Honey Chandler is able to use the conclusion of Borders’ case to her advantage. This episode also sees Robertson and Bosch make amends, though this happy moment sadly doesn’t last long.

4 “La Zona Rosa” Delivers Tension and New Developments

Season 3, Episode 8

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

«La Zona Rosa» delves into the storyline from The Black Ice, only adapted to fit the main plot in Bosch: Legacy. This episode finally introduced the one responsible for Jimmy Robertson’s death, Zorillo. Harry and Honey’s leads take them to the same conclusion: that Zorillo himself was the one who killed Robertson.

The episode is filled with tension as Harry almost comes face to face with Robertson’s killer while investigating, but a confrontation is avoided. Meanwhile, Officer Vasquez struggles as they set up a trap to catch the group involved in the string of robberies, including Vasquez’s nephew. But things go sideways, and one of them is killed, while Vasquez has to chase down and arrest her own nephew in a tense and heartbreaking scene that makes «La Zona Rosa» a compelling episode.

3 “Bosching Bosch” Takes Audiences Back to the Original Bosch Series

Season 3, Episode 2

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

«Bosching Bosch» follows Robertson and Lopez’s investigation of Harry and Borders’ claims. But with this, the episode brings back old memories from the original Bosch series and Edward Gunn’s murder case that Robertson and Bosch worked on together. Meanwhile, Harry meets Siobhan, who asks Harry to investigate the disappearance of her family. «Bosching Bosch» sets up the rest of the series after an explosive first episode.

But what makes this episode so fun and intriguing at the same time is the return of Jimmy Robertson, as well as the many references to previous Bosch seasons that many long-time fans of the show probably enjoyed. «Bosching Bosch» gives Jimmy Robertson the spotlight, and his return, his unique cadence and investigative methods, even if tragically short-lived, helps this episode become one of the best of the season.

2 “Goes Where It Goes” Opened the Season With a Bang

Season 3, Episode 1

Every Episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Ranked

The very first episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3 is easily the best in the series. The show opens the season with a bang and brings back several characters from the original Bosch series. Jimmy Robertson makes a return as he is tasked with investigating Borders’ claims that Harry ordered him to kill Dockweiler in prison. But an unexpected character also returns: Frank Sheehan, who played a big role in Bosch Season 4.

Sheehan was an LAPD detective who later lost his job after Harry found video evidence of Sheehan using excessive force on a suspect, who later turned out to be innocent. Honey Chandler represented the suspect turned victim against Sheehan and the LAPD, leaving Sheehan’s reputation ruined. He returns to ask Honey for a way back into the LAPD if she wins the DA election, but Honey refuses. Sheehan’s storyline in Bosch: Legacy is short-lived but memorable. He becomes a dangerous presence and ramps up the tension before a tragic conclusion. Without a doubt, “Goes Where It Goes” was the perfect start to the final season of Bosch: Legacy, beginning the season with a tense and action-packed episode.

1 “F***ing Politics” Is Filled With Shocking and Heartbreaking Twists

Season 3, Episode 5

“F***ing Politics” is probably a controversial episode in Bosch: Legacy, as many were left heartbroken after the shocking twist at the end of the episode. However, there’s no denying that “F***ing Politics” is also an extremely compelling episode filled with twists and turns that kept audiences glued to the screen. This episode was a turning point for many characters’ stories, including Robertson, Honey Chandler, Reina Vasquez, and Harry Bosch himself. Robertson proves that, even though he might not agree with Harry’s tactics, he still respects him enough to fight to clear Harry’s name after the DA asks to wait until the election is over. Robertson does his best to continue the investigation regardless, and even goes to Scott Anderston from the Times, to leak what’s happening with the investigation on Harry Bosch.

It comes as a heartbreaking shock when, right at the end of the episode, Jimmy Robertson is shot and killed. “F***ing Politics” delivers another twist, as it reveals that one of the robbers that Vasquez and Maddie Bosch are after is Vasquez’s own nephew. This episode also sees Honey Chandler win the election and become the next District Attorney of Los Angeles, a satisfying arc in Chandler’s story. “F***ing Politics” is an episode that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats until the end, proving why Bosch: Legacy became such a beloved series.
