Robinson suggests that PlayStation has been a part of Fable‘s plans for a while, meaning the PlayStation port might not require additional post-launch development. Either way, we should hopefully find out more details soon. Fable is set to be showcased at the Xbox Developer Direct on January 22, which is promising «the first in-depth look» at the game.

On Xbox and PC, Fable‘s availability on Game Pass will reduce the number of actual buyers, but interested PlayStation owners won’t have that alternative to purchasing the game.
As for Xbox’s brand as a whole, this could be one of the final steps in the transition away from a hardware focus. Bringing an exclusive to another platform on the same day signifies that opting for an Xbox over a PlayStation might not have any material advantages in the future, giving PlayStation fans little reason to consider the competing console.

Fable developer Playground Games is also bringing Forza Horizon 6 to the market this year, but that one reportedly won’t be coming to PlayStation 5 on the same day. Robinson notes that Forza Horizon 6‘s port «just isn’t ready.» Considering the amount on Playground’s plate at the moment, this isn’t that surprising. Assuming everything proceeds as Robinson expects, it’ll be interesting to see how the two different release strategies work out for Playground’s upcoming titles.
